'the app couldn't connect to the internet'

hi, I recently bought 2 new expansion packs on my mac for sims 4. My game has been needing updated before I can install these 2 packs or play them and I have tried to do this countless times and I keep getting the same error that EA can't connect to the internet. I have a working internet connection and have tried everything, restarting the app, my mac, clearing the cache, shutting down the laptop, uninstalling and then reinstalling the EA app, trying a different network, but still nothing is working. Has anyone else has this issue and been able to sort it? thanks!!!
