Nevermind, back in the crash loop. I see now this will never be fixed and support has abandoned this site.
If anyone in the future reads this, here are the steps I plan on taking to mitigate this problem:
1. Wait for a big discount on the Steam/GoG version of the game you want to play and rebuy it, which is what we should have done in the first place.
2. Test that the purchased version works. If it doesn't, refund it.
3. For any games not on Steam or with non-working Steam versions, you'll have to use your imagination with this particular "service problem."
4. Quit giving EA money.
