if you're still facing the issue try :

fully Close EA app from your tray then do this  
Task manager > Processes > EA background services > End task 
it did the trick for me

That one worked for me. I hadn’t played in months because I needed a new computer so this is only my third day. Have a feeling I’m going to really dislike EA soon.

    Thanks, I was having an issue with it today and really wanted to update the sims 4 since a new patch came out today. This trick worked, so I'm glad. Thanks again.
