    Hey all, if seeing this issue you can generally fix it by starting to download any free EA game such as Apex Legends. Once the download has started stop it and then try your other games.

    Thanks for the report.

    This is indeed something that our teams are actively investigating.

    Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a workaround for the issue at the moment.

    I can't download Apex Legends either through EA desktop app or with Origin. I can download other games. I tried FIFA and Battlefield 5 and both started downloading with no problems. I'm on a stable wired connection.


    EA app says "Unable to install. There was a slight hiccup and we couldn't finish installing Apex Legends. Restart your PC and try again." (Screenshot 1)

    Origin says: "We've encountered a problem. An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again in a few moments. Error: 196620:0" (Screenshot 2)

    What I already tried:
    - installing Apex Legends with EA app
    - log out of the EA app and log back in
    - downloading another game first (no problems)
    - clearing EA app cache (Help - App recovery)
    - restarting computer (and trying all above again)
    - uninstalling EA app and reinstall
    - downloading Apex to a different partition or disk
    - deleting all files except "Logs" in C:ProgramData\EA Desktop
