Unknown error when trying to update Sims 4

I'm having the same problem - unknown error when I try to download the new update, since yesterday. I'm using the EA App on MAC and downloading to an external hard drive. I JUST deleted and reinstalled the game like a week ago, losing all my saves, because I was getting the same unknown error - now the first update and it happens again. I've cleared the cache, restarted the app, restarted the computer, checked all the files and the save location - I'm losing my mind! And there are no other users on my computer - the dip stage error doesn't apply.
