Whats up with the EA App character font

Hello

Please, hope someone can help.

For the last few years when using the \EA App/ the char font has been kinda weird, like spiky, blurry with these floating distorted "objects".

To give an example below the characters are not spaced correct, these floating vertical and horizontal things.

Its as if there are two language packs fighting with each other.

Its difficult to read.  The windows desktop chars are set to 100%.  The EA app is set to 100% with full sceen, so there "should" be no distorted charcters.

Please, could someone help with fixing these mangled font chars, so I can read them without eyestrain.

Many thx

  • Hey @Eeekey,

Thank you for giving it another shot! It's definitely strange that this issue is persisting.

Could you try clearing the browser cache by closing the app fully and then deleting the files in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\CEF\BrowserCache (you can paste this path directly into your Explorer address bar)? If that doesn’t resolve it, could you also check if the font issue appears in the built-in error reporter? Or does that display as expected?

    Cheers.

    Hi @Eeekey,

This is really strange. I’ve honestly never seen or experienced anything like this myself. Has this been happening for you since you first installed the client?

    @EA_Leeuw

Yes, whenever we had to switch over from Origin to the EA  App. Idk when that was , but its been like that since day one of the changeover.

The wonky font charcacters do affect the left side, and they do sometimes affect the friends and friends conversation box and the settings in the middle screen.

    Anything with a dark background.

computer is "just" up to doing the job.

    fx8350, 16gb ram, ssd drive, rtx 3060 12gb

So idk what else could be causing this weird ghost characters.

If you use a magnify glass on this pix, the white font is acutally colouful.

Hope you can fix it,  beacuse it causes eyestain.

Hey @Eeekey, thanks for including the other screenshot and the info earlier!

Question: Can you check if you have set GPU Hardware Acceleration to 'manual' for the EA app under Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings? Please also include a screenshot of what you see. Or have you set any non-default settings for the EA app (EADesktop.exe) in the Nvidia Control Panel if you have an Nvidia GPU?

    Thanks!

    @EA_Leeuw

    Thank you for your reply.

Ok Im all out of ideas. Nothing has solved this. Here what I tried:

The Windows GPU hardware acceleration was set to on, I changed it to off and restarted the computer but EA App still displaying artifacts.

Windows Display scale & layout is set to 125%. I need that in order to comfortably read the screen, but I will switch it to 100% to see what happens.

No solution: The E A App still displaying artifacts.

As for NV CP, there were no Program Setting for EA desktop.exe, so I created a link and reset all options to off. Also, I set the Adjust Image settings with preview to: Let the 3d application decide. Sadly, made no difference EA App still wonky.

Using the actual EA App scaling by zooming in/out or actual size options, makes no difference as the artifacts are still present.

Sadly nothing has worked. Could you offer another idea as to fix.

    .

Can I say it appears that the EA app spacing, on the left side of the App,  are too small for the allowed char fonts, as not just the chars have artifacts but also some of the EA program icons are cut off from within the box.

Here some pix:  NVCP settings  before I set everyting to off

The EA App scale set to actual size, windows 10 scale set to 100%, nvcp set to Let the app decide.  Notice the chars are cut off and EA App icon is not fitting correctly into the box.  May the margins are off.  idk

Im all out of ideas.  I need the windows desktop scale set to 125% for comfortable reading, but this doesent affect anything else gamewise or desktop wise.

[FYI I made a ticket in the actual EA app, but on the browser Error Report version I cannot  select any of the drop down menus to chooose options, such as windows version, etc]

@EA_Leeuw Success!  It has sorted itself out after deleting the browser cache!

Good news the EA app is now so much more cortable to read with no eye strain.

See here, now very clean font chars.

    Nice one! Thanking you Leeuw.🙌
