There are many reasons why this might be stuck at preparing, as it's hard to pinpoint the exact reason, I'd suggest you start with the following steps: Games that won't download, install, or load in the EA app. Apart from the steps in this article, some basic things that you should also try are: Run EA app as admin and make sure the drive you select to install the game has enough storage space available.
Please try these steps and let us know how that goes.
Try going into Task manger and quit the "EABackgroundservice.exe, then try running the game again.
