Migration: a noble goal, but badly executed

Another thing i noticed on the sims side of this forum. There was a whole promise of "everything nominated will be migrated if the OP has a EA account. Including embedded images".
And we already know that that was a lie they neglected to mention. They knew the image migration broke but decided to not mention it. So that's fun.

More importantly: the whole migration doesn't work as all the text was migrated 1:1, and all those migrated posts are filled with links to other forums.thesims.com threads. And those are all forever broken now. so this? doesn't go anywhere. The search function on this site is still more broken then the old forum one was as it only searches individual keywords. Google style quotes around phrases do nothing.

And going to a specific place that happens to be between the oldest and the newest posts? HAH, good luck. Have fun clicking "show more" for the next 45 minutes while the backend slogs to retrieve the files.
Returning to where you were reading last in a large thread? nope, not possible. Just like Reddit there's no pages. All in all another re-iteration of what many have said already: wrong platform choice

  • I think the migration was a poor idea. The people that decided this must have known that this new site is structured in a completely different way, but still they gave the impression that everything will be fine. Very poor expectation management...

And now there's a flood of basically broken discussions (can't really call them threads anymore) with missing images and even if people are so dedicated that they try to update each and every post they run into editing errors.

More honesty and a clean slate would probably have been better.
