Changed Xbox gamertag after suspension, but Battlefield bf6 still shows old name under associated accounts
TL;DR: I received a warning about my Xbox gamertag even though I play on PC through Steam. Support told me to enable anonymous mode and said I would be fine. I followed that advice but later received a three-day suspension. I was then told I needed to change my Xbox gamertag. I changed it, but Battlefield still shows the old name. Now support says they cannot sync the updated information because of the sanction. How am I supposed to fix the issue and prevent another suspension if the sanction prevents support from helping me update it?
I just want to speak with someone who can give me accurate information and help resolve this.
LONG VERSION
This has been an incredibly frustrating experience. I received a suspension over an Xbox gamertag I have had since 2009. It consists of my initials followed by “reloaded.” I play Battlefield 6 on PC through Steam and have not used my actual Xbox console in at least five years.
About a month ago, I received a warning about the name. I contacted an advisor to find out what I needed to do and was told to enable anonymous mode and that I would be fine. I followed those instructions but still received a three-day suspension.
During the suspension, I could not reach an advisor through the support options I tried. I could submit an appeal, but that did not answer my questions about how to correct the issue. I only received a decision accepting or denying the appeal.
After the suspension, I contacted support again. Different advisors gave me different answers, and when I asked for the issue to be escalated, I was told they could not do that.
I have now changed the Xbox gamertag I have used for roughly half my life. However, when a friend checked my associated names in Battlefield, the old name was still there.
After contacting support for the seventh time in four hours, an advisor told me they could not sync the account because it had a sanction on it. I am actively trying to correct the issue so I do not receive another, potentially longer suspension, but I am being told the sanction prevents them from helping me make that correction.
I was also told that unlinking my Xbox account could cause me to lose game data, so I have not done that. I play through Steam, and this involves an Xbox account whose console I have not used in years.
I am not asking anyone here to overturn the suspension. I have already changed my Xbox gamertag. I need clear instructions on how to get Battlefield to recognize the updated name and confirmation of what else, if anything, I need to do to prevent the old name from causing another suspension.
Can someone explain the correct process or direct this to a team that can actually resolve it?
