Compromised Email

Okay, so I made an email about 24 years ago, and used that email for my EA account back in 2012. That email was compromised by scammers demanding I send them money. Unfortunately the email password is the same as the EA account password since I usually do things in pairs. One email for one thing. I tried to change the email for my EA account but they want to send an email to the guy that took my email account and changed it all. So I tried to change my password at least and yep. EA wants to email the guy that has my account. So I went to add a phone number so I can try protect my EA account that way and wouldn't you know it? They want to email the hacker. So what do I do if I can't change any information on my EA account? Do I just give it up and lose all my games to the other guy? I want a complete wipe. New email, new password, my phone number added for protection, and everything else I can do to protect my account. The EA help page was completely useless as they find it mandatory I fill in every space even if it's not applicable. I want an email or some sort of direct contact with EA guys to help protect what I'll probably lose anyway. I took a list of all the games I own(ed) and all the information currently so I'm ready with it. I can't even un-link my other accounts from my EA account without EA trying to email the hacker. I'm really frustrated.
