Impossible to delete my EA account

Hi,

Writing here because I can't get in touch with anyone.

It is literally impossible to delete my EA account. I submitted a deletion request, then I was told I had to wait to speak with an “advisor.” I stayed in the queue the whole day: sometimes I could see an estimated wait time, sometimes not.

I was also told I would receive an email with the details of my request, but I never got anything. The only emails I actually receive are the surveys asking me if I’m happy with the service they provided.

The case was marked as “Resolved” the next day, even though nothing was resolved. I tried opening another separate tickets, same result. It looks like it’s simply impossible to get in touch with anyone. 

And now, on top of that, I also want to delete my EA Forums account, which is another headache. At this point, I feel like it’s impossible to exercise my Right to Be Forgotten, which is extremely frustrating.

    I most definitely understand this is frustrating. Unfortunately, the only way to get this resolved is to get support through chat. You'll need to wait for an advisor to be available. Which should be most any time, but depending on the queue, it could take a bit before someone responds.

    What would be the best time to try to contact (yet again) an advisor in Europe using Live Chat?
    Also, in the event that EA Support actually deletes my EA account, will it delete my EA Forums account? Or should I just ask for its deletion right away?

    An advisor will handle deleting those accounts for you. You should be able to open a case any time.

    Unfortunately, resolving the case via email isn’t an option. The only way to address it is through Live Chat. You can have the chat window open or closed, the case will be resolved without any updates from Support. Contrary to what’s stated when submitting a case:

    A confirmation email was sent to (censored address) with your case info.

    You won't receive anything. Furthermore, cases won't actually be submitted if you don't click on the Live Chat option, as there aren't other options available. So you can open a case any time, but as it is 11PM here right now, you'll wait for nothing to happen. I'm only looking for a solution to get in touch with anyone, as it has been proven impossible before.

    I’ll try again tomorrow, but this doesn’t comply with regulations, particularly with regard to GDPR in Europe. 😣

  • EA has made it impossible to delete not only our EA Forums account, but unable to delete our EA account as well. EA Help takes you through a complete loop that has no end. And there is no live chat, no contact options at all.

    At this point, folks would need a lawyer to force EA to delete our accounts. Since it is clearly defined by EA that we do have the rights to delete our accounts and yet they give no way of doing so by making us go through a loop that just brings us right back to the start again on EA's Help page, they are illegally preventing us from exercising our rights to delete our information from their system.

    It shouldn't be impossible to delete an account. We have instructions for this here. You should be able to scroll to the bottom of that page and hit the 'Contact Us' button to open a case.
