Permanent bans for coin buying as a minor, 10 years later, no path back?

Wanted to open this up for discussion since I know I'm not the only one in this situation.

I got a permanent ban years ago tied to buying FUT coins in FIFA 17, when I was a minor. I'm not disputing that it happened, technically EA's Rules of Conduct do list unauthorized currency purchases under their cheating definition, even though most players don't think of it the same way as aimbots or exploits.

What's frustrating is there doesn't seem to be any path back from it, no matter how much time passes. It's been roughly a decade, the game itself isn't even available anymore, and every appeal gets the same templated response confirming the ban stands, with no visibility into what would actually change the outcome.

Curious if others here have been in a similar spot: a single, old, isolated violation with a permanent penalty and no real avenue to resolve it. Does anyone know if EA has ever reduced a permanent ban to a suspension, or is a first-time offense from a decade ago treated the same as someone banned last week?

Not trying to make excuses, just trying to understand if there's actually a way forward here or if this is simply final no matter what.

  • Hi Levandoski_23,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. I can understand your frustration with receiving similar responses to your appeals, especially given the amount of time that has passed.

I want to clarify that while the emails sent out follow a standard template to ensure consistent messaging, every appeal is manually reviewed by a member of the Terms of Service team. We use standardized responses to provide clear and consistent information to all players, but a real person does review each case. Additionally, we cannot share specific details or evidence from our investigations in order to keep our detection and security systems secure.

For privacy and account security reasons, we cannot review or overturn sanctions here on the forums. The only official channel to have an action reviewed is by following the guidance outlined in our Help article:

Check and appeal EA Account locks, bans, and suspensions

Please note that if you still have remaining appeals, you can submit another ticket through the official help channel with any additional information you would like our team to review. However, if the process has been fully exhausted, the determination communicated by the Terms of Service team is considered final.

    Thank you for your understanding.
