Playbook Autonomy
Dear EA Sports Team,
I am writing to express my disappointment with the apparent restriction that prevents players from freely choosing any playbook in College Football ’27. EA Sports has long promoted the idea that “It’s in the game,” but limiting a player’s ability to select and use preferred playbooks seems inconsistent with the freedom and strategic creativity that make college football so engaging.
In real college football, teams study, adapt, and borrow concepts from one another all the time. A program is not prohibited from incorporating ideas because another team uses a similar scheme or play design. That flexibility is part of competition. For that reason, restricting playbook choice in the game feels unnecessary and counterproductive, especially for players who value customization, strategy, and realism.
I would appreciate a clear explanation of the reasoning behind this design decision and hope EA Sports will reconsider it in future updates or releases. Allowing players greater freedom in selecting playbooks would improve the overall gameplay experience and better reflect the creativity and autonomy that exist within the sport itself.
