EA Sold College Points, Then Removed Their Main Use — This Is Unfair

UPDATE (July 11, 2026):

I have now spent several hours with both EA Support and PlayStation Support, and each company has confirmed the following:

EA confirmed in writing:

• EA intentionally removed all paid progression and College Point spending from Road to Glory and Online Dynasty following community feedback.
• My approximately $150 balance of College Points can no longer be used for its intended purpose in those modes.
• EA cannot reverse the points, issue compensation, or process a refund.
• PlayStation is the merchant of record and “the sole party with the financial authority to review, approve, and issue a refund.”

PlayStation confirmed in writing:

• They acknowledge that I still have the points and that the balance is completely unused.
• They denied the refund because the points technically still exist and can be used elsewhere in the game, even though I did not purchase them for those other modes.
• Their suggestion was that I simply use the points in another game mode.

This leaves me in an impossible position:

I purchased approximately $150 of College Points specifically for Road to Glory and Dynasty progression. EA removed that functionality before I used any of the points. EA says only PlayStation can refund the purchase, while PlayStation refuses because the points technically still exist.

I am posting this update so that other affected players can share their experiences and so that EA and PlayStation can understand that this issue remains unresolved.

I’ve been a loyal EA customer since my teens, and I was thrilled when the college football game came back two years ago. I bought the Deluxe Edition specifically because it included Coach Points to help level up my coach faster.

I recently discovered that Coach Points were removed from the game without my being made aware of this change. I understand the decision may be related to moving away from microtransactions, but I don’t think I should be penalized for a decision that wasn’t mine. I paid for the Deluxe Edition based on the benefits it advertised at the time, including those Coach Points.

If the Coach Points cannot be restored to my account, I’m requesting a refund for the Deluxe Edition upgrade, since that purchase was made specifically for a feature I can no longer use.

Please let me know how we can resolve this.

you get the 150 coach points regardless, the college points (green currency) is a currency primarily used in Ultimate Team

This is very fair, we spent the last 5 days complaining that micro transactions shouldn’t be in an offline mode regardless, and the college points you bought are primarily for ultimate team, not dynasty and road to glory…you should’ve done more research…well enjoy your CUT Points.

I am in this exact position. I purchased the points with the sole purpose of using them in road to glory. I do not understand why they would cut us off like that. Why not just let those of us who already purchased points to continue to apply them to road to glory?

You guys didnt FIX the problem. 1. Microtransactions are still in game. 2. They removed the option to use points that they sold as part of a bundle that tons of people bought. 3. Now without the transactions you have no real chance to level up your coach in dynasty because they didn't actually patch the XP system. So they sold points, made them worthless, gave no refunds, and didn't fix anything. And you guys are out here celebrating.

for real! I am not sure what is worse, how passive aggressive EA is—literally breaking their own game mode just because the community complaints about micro transactions—or the fact that the community is so stupid that they celebrate the fact that they broke the game mode…

Update: I went through the Better Business Bureau and they were able to get me a full refund for the game. I recommend you all do the same.

No need to be a knob about it. I have no issue with the paid progression as not everyone wants to grind for 24 hours a day from 60 overall however it should be optional and they should've kept the XP progression sliders in the game how it was in the last 2, I see no problem in players who want to level up faster being able to pay money to do so however it should be optional and you should be able to progress normally like you could the last 2 games. It's an offline mode so people paying for overalls doesn't provide any sort of competitive advantage, people who want to waste their money on that should be allowed to if they so choose.
