I'm having a similar issue but with Steam. I've contacted my old email accounts customer support to see about recovering the email, only for them to not have that email in their systems anymore(deleted). I even sent a test email through my active account and had it bounce back. I sent a help ticket in to get the old email un-linked from my Steam account and I just checked the ticket again recently to fined it "Resolved" with no email detailing what they did to resolve the issue. Wonderful tech support.....
