Why Does EA’s Anti-Cheat Block Virtual Machines Like Shadow PC?

Dear EA Support,

I hope at least one of you is an EA executive or forum moderator who can finally explain why EA’s anti-cheat system blocks virtual machines like Shadow PC.

We pay for your services—many of us use EA Play Pro or purchase your games outright. While some people use cloud PCs for online gaming, not everyone does. I mostly play Manager Mode or Exhibition in EA Sports FC 24/25, with the occasional Champions League fixture test. Despite this, EA’s anti-cheat blocks me completely, even for single-player modes.

This issue is not just with EA Sports FC. The same problem exists for Battlefield 2042, Madden, and every modern EA game. Your anti-cheat makes these games completely unplayable on Shadow PC and other cloud platforms.

So tell me, why is EA blocking virtual machines?

What is the justification for banning people from playing single-player modes in the games they legally own?

And don’t just tell me, “The only solution is to buy a new PC.” That is not an acceptable response. Not everyone has the ability to upgrade, and Shadow PC was supposed to be a solution for players who can’t buy high-end gaming PCs. But instead of allowing us to legitimately play the games we paid for, you’ve chosen to block us entirely.

Why?
Why is EA enforcing this restriction?
Why are virtual machines blocked across all modern EA titles?

I hope to get an actual explanation soon.

AFAIK, the only VM like environment that is currently supported is G-Force Now.

I have seen in the past that Shadow PC is blocked.

I do not anticipate upcoming changes regarding VM environments.

    Thanks.

  • So let me get this straight—EA actively blocks Shadow PC, a paid cloud service, while allowing GeForce Now? And the best response I get from support is, “We do not anticipate changes regarding VM environments”? That’s it?

    Let’s break this down:

I PAID for these games. They are MINE. Yet, because I use a cloud PC instead of a physical one, I am locked out?
GeForce Now is allowed, but Shadow PC isn’t? What exactly is the difference in security risk? There is NO logical reason for this.
Other anti-cheat systems handle VMs just fine, but EA refuses to put in the effort? This is pure laziness, NOT a technical limitation.
I have tested every possible workaround. Nothing works. And every EA response is the same useless corporate answer.

If EA is going to keep blocking PAID users from playing their own games, they need to:

PROVIDE a legitimate reason why Shadow PC is blocked. Stop hiding behind vague “we don’t support VMs” excuses.
ACTUALLY give a solution. Either support Shadow PC or create an alternative that doesn’t force users into GeForce Now.
STOP IGNORING THIS ISSUE. We are PAYING CUSTOMERS. Our money is just as valid as those playing on physical PCs.
I expect a REAL response, not another copy-paste of “GeForce Now is supported, but other VM environments are not.” FIX THIS.

  • I only signed in to say this: Screw EA. You’ve consistently proven yourselves to be one of the most anti-consumer companies in gaming, and somehow, you keep finding new lows.

Your reliance on always online DRM and bloated launchers has made playing the games I paid full price for a nightmare. I spent $70 on a game I couldn’t even access because of your broken systems. And now, with your latest anti-consumer moves, it’s clear you're not just out of touch; you’re openly hostile to your own player base.

Don’t worry about banning my account, or do I don't really care either way. I’ve got no shortage of ways to access your games without your trash launcher. Piracy is looking more like a public service at this point. And trust me, I’ll be making sure people know how easy it is to bypass your nonsense.

I’m genuinely rooting for the downfall of this company and the people running it. You’ve earned every bit of bad press, every boycott, every loss. EA has been the face of corporate greed in gaming for years. Congrats on staying on brand.
