Hi @Xefke_PS3 Thanks for letting us know what you are running into!

First, to check do you still have an active PS Plus Subscription?

If so we can try going through the following steps for Playstation:

  • Clear the systems cache (Close the game completely > Turn off the console > Wait 30-60 seconds > Restart and Relaunch)
  • Verify you signed into your PSN account
  • Check for updates 
  • Restore Licence
  • Try the steps in our Connection and Advance Connection Guides 
  • Open your PS5 NAT Type
  • Change DNS settings (You can use the public google DNS primary: 8.8.8.8, secondary: 8.8.4.4, unless there is a different DNS you would rather use)  
  • Entering Safe Mode and Rebuild your PS database

    I do have an active subscription, as I can play any other game with no issues.

    - Done a complete restart including removing power.

    - Signed into PSN => OK

    - Latest version => OK

    - Restored Licenses => OK

    - Connection is ok as all other functions and games work without issues (also game worked once online with a friend last week and nothing changed)

    - NAT Type 2 => OK

    - DNS Settings are already google's => OK

    - Rebuild Database => OK

    Unfortunately still no online play possible.

    Steps:

    - Start Game

    - Select "Play Online"

    -> "Connecting to EA servers..." => "Authenticating..." => Error message (see screenshot)

    HI @Xefke_PS3 Thanks for the update and trying those steps. 

    To check if there is another account on the PS5 we can test to see if it gets the same error or a different network we can test?

    I have tried to use the game on a completely different network but it is still giving the same issue.

    Unfortunately I am not able to test a different account at this moment.

    Please note that in the meantime I even did a complete reinstall of the PS5 system but the issue still remains. It must really be an issue with the authentication of my user account at the EA side.

    Can you please take a look into that?

    HI @Xefke_PS3 I can pass this on to the team to be aware of!

    To confirm we can't look into account details here on the forums, Have you already spoken with our support for any potential with the EA account itself?

    It Takes Two  | PlayStation 5  | Manage my account  | Manage account details

    If there's anything there blocking the account from connecting they should be able to assist.

    I already chatted with the EA support people but they gave me the same standard troubleshooting paths.

    They said they would highlight the problem with the game developer as this might be a bug in the game. 

    The problem is that I think there might be something wrong with the account entry in the back end for my account which gives an issue on the authenticating step for my account for this game.

    Is there any place I can have this checked?

    HI @Xefke_PS3 Our support should be able to see any issues with the EA account side, aside from that we might be able to confirm with Sony if there are any issues with the PSN Account. 

    Also to confirm, Have you downloaded the friend pass version before?

    I have already contacted the ea support via live chat several times and they were unable to give me a solution. 
    Is there a number I can contact them by phone from Belgium?

    also, I was not able to find the friends pass, so could not download.

    Hi @Xefke_PS3 I don't have a direct number to provide. 

    For the Friend Pass download I wanted to check if it was downloaded instead which cause an issue. 

    If you go to the PSN Store and search It Takes Two you should get 2 or 3 options I wanted to make sure neither friend's pass version (there's one for PS4 and PS5) shows as installed or play. 

    From the browser store, it should look something like this....

    No it’s the full game I have downloaded, not the friends pass. 
    Also, if I would have downloaded the friends pass, the issue would not appear when my friend tried to invite me.

    I have also downloaded the game on PC and there I get the same error message when trying online. 
    the issue really seems to be with the game or game servers or the authentication to these.


    I also tried installing “A Way Out” also from Hazelight studio and there I have no issues with logging in online.

  • Hi, 

    I have the original game via Steam, we don't have Origin--Only EA app to login connected to our Steam accounts we were playing until we got kicked from the server saying unable to connect, we were able to reconnect for a moment but then kicked again.  The same error and code shows, we still don't have any solution to this issue.

    Please let us know if anyone knows how to fix this, it's kinda frustrating

    we're using

    PC [both of us, friends pass]

    Steam to open game

    EA app to login game

    our game is located at our Local:D

    I have the same issue on PC. I have full game downloaded via Steam and my wife has Friend's pass. I am not able to play it anymore. When I click on "Play online" I get error - see the image.

  • Was told by live chat to post this here. Friend and I have tried to play this game but keep running into this error code. We have done numerous restarts on systems. I have tried changing connections between hotspots, other signals and both wired and wireless connections. Have tried opening DNS settings. Tried numerous different PSN accounts. Restoring licences, etc, etc. All to no avail. Live chat agent says he has made internal team aware and may be a bug?

    • Platform (or client):
    • EA ID (PSN ID/Gamertag):
    • Do you get the error code when connecting to servers, playing online with someone, or somewhere else?
    • How long are you playing until this happens?
    • Does this happen to any other account on the device?
    • What type of network are you using? (Wired, Wireless, Hotspot)
    • Please share any steps you've tried to far to resolve the issue:
    • If possible, share a Screenshot or Clip...
    • If on PC, please share a DxDiag and an EA app Error ID

    We can use this information, to help make the team aware of the issue and to further investigate.

  • My game works now but the error persists now and then... these is how I did it.

    1. I tried to repair the game via Steam verify integrity of file but it didn't work
    2. I uninstalled the game via Steam
    3. I reinstalled the game and it's located on my Local Disk: D
    4. When we tried to reconnect it worked until;
    5. There's a lost connection again, we tried to play online once more and it works again
    6. This happened twice after reinstalling

    Clarifying that the internet connection wasn't the problem since I checked my internet speed test on 3 different website checkers

    I have at least 99mbps while playing the game
