Can't purchase EA Play on Origin.

Hi, I have recently tried purchasing an EA Play yearly subscription through the Origin app on PC. The purchase fails every time but takes £1 out my account. I haven't had any problems like this before, not sure if It'll all of a sudden work later or if It's a common problem that can be fixed by reinstalling the app but I tried purchasing the subscription via web browser as well and had the same problem. Any suggestions?

  • The initial charge was most likely a pre-authorisation @vKiiMBOv. A pre-authorisation is a temporary hold on money in your account which is generally the balance of an item or service you have ordered. This is not a charge and the money does not leave your account, it is just the bank and service provider ensuring that the money is there to cover the order. If you look back over your invoices from your credit card company you will no doubt see that while a certain amount of money was earmarked it was never actually taken from the account.

If after this the order is not going through then it would mean that the bank or card issuer is declining it. The best thing to do is to reach out to your bank or card issuer and check for any issues.

    Hi @vKiiMBOv

That should be an authorization hold, they need to verify your card etc before it can be used and fully charged etc. You will just need to wait a little for it to all go through.

    Hope that helps.
