Let us buy games while having an active Pro subscription

I want to be able to buy BF2042 (currently on sale) so that I can stop my Play subscription at some point and still access it, but that's just not possible. This must be a mistake, because I can't imagine EA wouldn't let us give them more money. 

On the web store, I simply cannot click check out. In the App (horrible, by the way, objectively inferior to even the worst version of Origin), I can add the Elite Edition upgrade to the cart, but not the base game. 

And maybe this is just to prevent the careless from buying a game they have access to unecessarily, but I don't care about them. I know what I'm about, stop holding my hand.
