Re: EA Play - Xbox Games Pass - Cross Saves

Hey @Cokemycolaaa,

Thanks for your visit to the forums.

Unfortunately not all EA titles support cross-play and/or cross-progression. Unfortunately, this is not something to 'fix', because it is not broken. It is working as intended because the games were not designed with these features in mind. Apex Legends will hopefully soon support cross-progression, as per the Apex Legends Reddit AMA.

Battlefield 2042 will be the first title to fully support cross-play, cross-progression and cross-commerce.

However, I would like to thank you for your feedback and I will make sure to pass it on to the teams.

P.S. Please also don't post the same post multiple times. Thank you.

  • It was not intended for it to be posted multiple times, I had not realized.

I understand that it is something that wasn't originally intended with these games or even EA's account system but your line "Unfortunately, this is not something to 'fix', because it is not broken." is just plain wrong. Many developers and game companies have introduced cross-play and cross-saves AFTER they released their games without such a feature. So yes, it is something that should be fixed, because there are many players who think it is in fact 'broken'.

It is ridiculous this would be in partnership with Xbox and launched from the Xbox app through EA just to not have your progress or be able to play with Xbox friends. What is even the point of the partnership at that point.

A good solution to this, if the team is out there listening, would be to clearly note this on one platform or another. If I'd known when I started playing on xbox cloud gaming via my phone that, once I got home and had a hardline connection to download the game I wouldn't be able to click that same icon in that same app and download/continue, I'd have started a different game.

I think the obfuscated state of this partnership and the lack of clear communication is the main problem demonstrated here. Like, it's cool to be able to play both sets of games. But if there are limitations, please tell us before we sink time and money into a game on one platform over another.

@artemiswren in addition to this ++ I'm doubly bummed because I thought this was why I had to jump through the extra hurdle of signing into an EA account every time I play an EA game on any platform. If that's not there to centralize the game experience, what's it for?
  • Same here, I have the Xbox game pass ultimate, I'm a pc player. I was playing on my phone and also on my friends pc when I went to go visit. Then when I got back home I was still able to play it on my pc web browser but then saw oh I can download it from the Xbox app with my game pass linked with ea and ea pass. So I click download but then an ea app login pops up, so I'm like okay cool this must want to confirm my account for cross save. It had me download it with the ea app and not Xbox app for some reason and then when it's finished downloading I launch it just to find out I have to start all over. Just like you said then what's the point of having to log in. If it's in partnership with Xbox and I played it on Xbox services a d downloaded it with the Xbox app it should have my cloud save when launching from my Xbox app but it forces me to open and play it with the ea app, like what the point to have both apps open and running just to play one game. This is broken, beyond broken. And like you said we should of been given a warning ⚠️ so we don't waist our time.

    Hey @GODsAssassin767,

Something can't be broken if it wasn't a feature or function in the first place. 🙂

That you can get EA Play for PC (EA App) via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, has nothing to do with potential cross-save game functionalities. This is something that is separate. If a game doesn't support cross-save, it, unfortunately, doesn't support cross-save.

Battlefield 2042 is the first full-fledged EA / DICE PC & console title that supports cross-save, cross-progression etc. This is a feature of the game itself & has nothing to do with anything related to EA Play.

However, I understand your (and the other players) feedback regarding this topic.

    Thanks.
  • Hey guys, just a litte +1 here.
I also am looking for cross save support like most of the games do these days. It makes total sense that older games dont support this function but I do expect that mass effect legendary edition supports this. It came out this year. Looking forward to playing on Xbox and continuing on PC when my GF plays PS5!

Thats one of the main benefits of GamePass! Xbox, PC, Streaming, all the same, all the same savegames!

    @EA_Leeuwthanks!

Absolutely. I would fully agree with you. I am new to XBOX Game Pass Ultimate. In fact I am REALLY new, as I just got a Series X about 45 days ago - and I am seeing this even with games on gamepass, so I understand why you are here inquiring about it. Totally understand. That is why I am here, wondering about a few EA games, only to find out its a thing here as well. That which is possible isn't happening. This is most likely because it is simply not worth it for them to implement it. It would cost them money, and the occasional cost out of pocket with no profit "just to make fans happy" isn't something a company like this does. Lol. They are after all a money slurping "for profit" company. That is all that matters to entities like EA. Maybe years down the road the technology that is already possible like you said, will actually be MORE common. It is starting to show up, not nearly enough though. :-(

    Hi @Sytorak @projectmark

Cross-save is not a default feature of the Xbox Game Pass - EA Play. If you would like this to be a default feature for the Xbox Game Pass, I would recommend passing this feedback on to Microsoft. Regarding EA Play, because the two are different, we thank you for the feedback regarding a feature request for cross-save. However, this depends on the game(s) itself and not on the service. Please see https://www.ea.com/ea-play/news/welcome-to-ea-play.

    Thanks.

  • Ugh, hate my username but anyways im here to say: why not? it completely ruins the entire reason of having it available cross platform, if you cant access your saves, i finally started Mirrors Edge Catalyst and i started on my xbox, and im unable to get my saves on my laptop, because EA play does not support the cross platform saving, which is utterly stupid, even if it wasn't a part of a gamepass deal thing. They need to fix this especially since its so easy, even mojang has it in some form by allowing you to copy your worlds through files, which you cant do for your save files on mirrors edge catalyst (i think), sorry for being late, and sorry for reposting similar things, but i feel i should share my opinion on this unneeded problem. Thank you for being so nice about this, i hope you can some day get it done, have a good time, bye

    Hey @Xxgamerkidd,

You can't 'fix' something is it isn't 'broken'. 😉

Since cross-save was never something specifically designed for Xbox Game Pass - EA Play, it is not something that can be 'fixed'. However, it is good feedback.

Cross-save is game specific and is something game developers need to integrate into their games. It is not a Xbox Game Pass - EA Play feature.

  • Is there any updates since? It just feels that Microsoft isn't doing well by keeping paying you for this partnership. They are way above you on this and are all about cloud saves and gaming. You are showing the exact opposite by just being lazy by not implementing a freaking cross-saves feature. Too much money or you just don't care?

    Hey @andiecharmot,

    Many thanks for the feedback.

However, as mentioned previously a couple of times in this thread; cross-progression is not a perk that comes with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate x EA Play for PC. Cross-progression is a game-specific feature that has nothing to do with either EA Play for PC or Xbox Game Pass.

Battlefield 2042 is, at the moment, the only game that has support for cross-progression.

  • @EA_Leeuw The "It's not broken" line was unnecessarily arragont and rude, but hopefully EA will realize there's plenty of people who won't use their launcher on PC because their progress doesn't carry over unlike Ubisoft, Bungie, Blizzard, etc. games. "It's not broken, we simply don't care to implement things for a better experience" would be more accurate.

Maybe im miss understanding what everybody's saying about cross play progression. But I play on Xbox one and PC using my same save data. I took tried it with ea play but it's cross play progression. I play on my console and im able to play on my gamepass on PC with the same save data. If your on the Xbox app on PC just play it through the cloud and it lets you use your progress from xbox console and vice versa

    Hey everyone,

Just a quick reminder: if you want Cross-Save & Cross-Progression to be mandatory features for games in Xbox Game Pass (Ultimate), it's important to let Microsoft know. Your feedback matters!

    Thanks.

  • I wholly support your view on this matter. That seems to be the only good reason to have  to sign in to ea on every platform, yet there is no cross save. For instance, I play deadspace remake on  x box, and when i play it on the cloud on pc on my rog ally or my gaming laptop, i can continue my progress.I installed the game on both my pc's and there's no save progress at all, just the option to start a new game, unless i play it through cloud gaming, then my x box and pc cloud progress is right there. Its maddeningly frustrating.
