Is it me only who finds tyre wear absolutely horrible this year? It makes no sense the cliff the grip falls into after you hit 20% wear, you lose 1.5 or 2 seconds for no reason once you go over that 20% mark. It is terrible and I hope there is some change because as much as the handling is a lot better, this just sucks. Doesn't help either that AI do not suffer this cliff no matter what...

@BadMayh3m I would personally not patch it because even amongst the esports guys it is not definitive that drifting is actually faster. Some say is, some say it is not, and some say it isn't even possible to classify it as drift. Plus, there are only 2 ways to patch it; make it harder, risking to go back to F1 22, or eliminate brake migration and other things in the brakes, going back to 50% brake bias.I have tried to solve it myself with a mod, and I personally did not like any of the mods I did, so, I wouldn't touch it.I would probably put some drag on the cars and work on gears, or engine limiter, especially for Mercedes Aston and Williams.Other than that, while I do think there is a bit too much grip, wings are a bit too efficient and drag is too low, the handling is brilliant, especially in race as the tyres wear.The important thing is that the feeling is right, and according to real teams and drivers, it is. Unless anyone here drives F1 cars as their main job.

@hotmeils I hope there is no change at all. Get better at the game, ask for help here in the forum, both on driving techniques and setups, instead of saying something is terrible out of personal preference.

You can also look up his guidelines for car setup in the other thread. Full of actionable tips that will also help you on tyre management.Anyway, from the general reception and response this thread got I think it's fair to say that the push for a more realistic tyre model is one of F1 23 highlights for most of us? An improved model that actually got input from F1 personnel. And again, if that's not your jam you can always fiddle with the game settings for a simpler and fun ride.What this franchise is supposed to be will vary depending on whom you ask. It's a feat in and of itself that it still can accommodate both casuals and those that look for a more realistic experience.

@ImpartialCross06 In F1 23 is better to lower the pressure, for tyre wear, especially low grip low downforce tracks like Baku.Just think of how much energy you create on the surface of the tyre. Higher pressure, less area of contact for the same load, more wear and more sliding.Use more pressure really if you need more grip at high speed corners, otherwise go as low as possible pressure for better wear.

I like it. It's difficult without being unpredictable, presenting a challenge and opening up the chance of different strategies and even 2-stop races.
Maybe it varies by track and/or difficulty but I've certainly noticed the AI having tyre issues. I was on mediums and fell back from the AI on softs, but as the laps went on, they struggled and I still had life in mine and caught up, even making overtakes before they pit.

I have checked this and I see in race director their lap times do slow down considerably. I just am so slow, it still can’t keep up.

Tyre wear has been made more realistic, with direct input from F1,teams There’s an initial drop off in grip once tyres exceed 20% wear. If you look at tyre strategy before start of race you see the line thats your predicted lap time and depending on race length you’ll see after x amount off laps it’ll increase

@hotmeils If you can keep your surface temps under 100 degrees it helps massively - I was able to get round Spa on 65% worn C3 Hards without it feeling too awful. So maybe try lowering tyre pressures, and certainly try braking slightly earlier/lighter.

@DavidGG53 I also asked in the setup section but no one answers. which parameters affect the rear temperatures? after 5 laps they go over 100 even if you increase the braking towards 56 57 58 etc... but a doubt arises because red white is yellow the rear temperature always seems the same

@Nellix82 tyre pressure is number one, toe is number 2. also a softer spring influences it.

But most of all, is driving. There is an amount of management in tyre preservetion in F1 23 never really seen before in previous F1 titles. You can really nurse your tyre and be a lot more consistent through out the stint and fast at the end.

@DavidGG53 I like the behavior of the tires but even at a minimum you suffer from high temperatures. PS: full elite driving.the geometry does not affect?therefore still a quieter guide without pushing exaggerated taste?

@Nellix82 If at minimum tire pressure you are still overheating your tyres, it is either your setup is totally wrong or you are pushing and sliding too much
