Ai tyre temps..

Idk about others but knowing that the AI get perfect tyre grip temperatures locked in is making this game A LOT worse for me.. I dont give a damn if the AI has slightly higher wear due to contact patch temps, if our own temps go through the roof when we try to stay out on Inters but the AI still goes at 65° and breezes past us its at the point of being ridiculous.. Like there is literally no sense in having tyre temps simulated anymore, now that the temps are even more realistic - as it should be - but the AI get HUGE advantages at certain tracks? To me thats bad game design, only useful for multiplayer..

I was actually gonna buy the game but knowing this i will possibly wait till a big sale comes around if at all, i wonder if its really that hard to just let the temps react just the same as for the player, the tyre still moves over the track and causes friction etc...

@ScarDuck14 And its such a shame, so many good changes - maybe some went overboard (the temp offset depending on the corners seems a bit exxagerated) but still they went for it, they did go a more simulation way in quite a few aspects, it could be by far the best F1 game based on pure driving, so multiplayer guys could be in for a treat - at least once😂

One thing I'll add here is that the AI are not always locked to ideal temperatures; their temperature is defined by the compound and track conditions. In the example of staying out on Inters with a drying track, the AI will also see their tyres overheat and wear out more quickly. They would only be at 65° when the track is wet enough that the player's tyres would also be running at 65° during normal driving.

We've seen very similar relative performance and wear changes for player and AI so far when testing these kind of circumstances.

@cm_caseyringley  that's reassuring, but I hope it does mean that the player can leave tyre simulation on for good this time around.

In the past entries there was no point leaving that on when playing single player as no matter how realistic the handling was, it would still amount to handicapping oneself while the AI could go on on their trains scot free.

I know AI isn't your department, but we can all agree that if the improvements make it so that we just don't have an additional reason to turn off tyre temps in single player (as in the deviation becoming even bigger), but still need to toggle it off to have reasonable AI performance, then Meza has a point. Those potential handling improvements will be kind of wasted on a good chunk of the player base.

Summing it up, the handling improvements for the player need to come in tandem with a reworked AI, otherwise career mode players will not see a true step forward in their experience in the long run.

@cm_caseyringley Well first, thanks for replying to this thread😄

Second, that would definitely make most people with similar worries a lot happier! However i wonder how far its depending on the track conditions? Like how much does it have to differ from normal track conditions for the AI to have changing temps? A fully scripted rise/fall in temps for the AI or actually dynamic behaviour? If the results are very similar this is kinda encouraging, personally id like it as dynamic as for the player much more though - mostly because i like to mod even more accuracy into the cars and especially race pace/quali pace differences are IMO easiest to simulate with carcass temps differing (of course theres much more to it than that!)

The dynamic a career mode or even just GP races would have, fully depending on the temps (searing heat in Hungary or freezing cold in Vegas) if e.g. Merc do well or cant take a traction zone without wheel spin.. The whole balance of the field should depend on track conditions (just not as extreme as my example😅)

Anyway, huge thanks for taking your time this late to even answer!😃 Got a lot of ideas on workarounds/improvements though😂

Every year on average 600hours going round and round mainly in Myteam but this year it will be career

Simple example as they are 2 races next to eachother on roster.

    Hungary and  Belgium.

Belgium I can dominate Ai110 however Hungary I get beat by Ai80 mainly down to tyre temps.

what’s more I can turn tyre temps to surface only and result is Ai100.  Which is where I set Ai for most races.

Spa I can race at Ai110 because I have no temp issues at Spa (Plus my best track)

@cm_caseyringley  thank you also for replying to Meza thread.

Previous years many people post complaining that Ai is unbalanced across the season when more often than not they do not realise the handicap human players face

First thing, I really appreciate the points y'all are making here.

Also love to hear we have modders in the mix. 🙂 Have a long history with modding myself, and I'm eager to see what you do with the new model features. Just shout if any questions come up after release when you start poking around in the data.

@cm_caseyringley Already got so many questions😂

But dont expect anything crazy from me, there are far more capable modders than me but even if the tyre temps might prove to scripted to get race pace differences out of (at least a tiny bit should work because of the heat wear that should be different depending on track conditions) i will enjoy modding the 2020 Merc, 2021 RB or 2018/2019 Ferrari performances (at least as far as possible without playing with the whole suspension characteristics) just love the different dynamics and even whole season grids of those (sadly thats not possible at the accuracy as a car that only i will drive because the AI cant cope with most changes like more/less downforce etc.)
