Some info about me:
Casual player, have been playing f1 games for a while but never alot, like maybe couple of days of a game at times etc... I only started playing alot of f1 with f1 22, and even now its not that much.
I drive without assists, manual gears everything, I only use ABS on.
My time trial times in f1 23 were about 1.1 seconds to 1.8 seconds slower than the top times, so im no pro, im not very slow but im not really good either.
For me personally I didn't like the handling so much when f1 24 released, alltho I saw huge potential, but some things annoyed me.
With this new patch these things are completely gone and I have to say I LOVE the new handling, way better than before and way better than f1 23.I also see why some "pro" and "very good" drivers here want this to be more of a sim, or want less grip etc... but that applies maybe to 2% of the population of f1 games, I don't agree they should do it just because such a low number of players want to make it harder to drive.
Maybe they should add "sim mode" where its easier to spin and harder to drive for you guys lol.I personally like the new handling alot and even my two friends who quit f1 22 because it was too hard and easy to spin and then played a bit f1 23 but still found it a bit too easy to spin at times, have tried it and are really impressed so far and will probably play it alot this year because of this.
I can understand why really great and pro players want it to be harder and punish ur mistakes more, thats why I suggest they can add a "sim mode" where these things are harder and its easier to spin and stuff... and everyone will be happy.

@roberto9663No I haven't tested medium TC as yet. I was mainly referring to too much grip from the front end. For me it initially felt like too much grip and front end downforce. However after more extensive testing I'm now not so sure?
I think because the steering inputs are completely out of sync to what the car is doing and turn in was so sharp and responsive, I felt like there was too much downforce. But I've now discovered a load of understeer mid corner, so not so sure now.
The steering definitely requires some rebalancing.
Full TC for me is now perfect on controller and back to how it was in 22 and 21.
- Meza9942 years agoSeasoned Ace@IanM282 Its not the downforce thats too much, tyre grip drops off too little especially at the front, with those extreme steering inputs it should go into understeer and thus less sharp turnin. And generally the cornering speeds are rather in low/medium speed wrong than high speed, high/medium speed is more downforce and low/medium speed is more mechanical/tyre grip. Just decreasing the downforce would make corners that are flat irl not flat ingame but in slowspeed theyd still be quicker than IRL

@Meza994Actually yes you are absolutely correct. I've only started playing the game a few hours ago so still trying to understand the handling in more detail.
I think the really sharp turn in can faulsley make you think you have too much downforce, but having tested it further there is a lot of understeer that soon follows after the initial sharp turn in.
Definitely needs more work, doesn't it. - Hansenhaus2 years agoNew Veteran@IanM282 I agree. The steering inputs do not feel natural. The middle part of the wheel feels way too sensitive and twitchy. It's pretty annoying and very difficult to be smooth with steering inputs.
I spent some time testing changes to the steering lock and linearity. Bumping up the linearity seems reduces sensitivity in the middle and helps with the initial false feeling of grip leading to understeer in a corner. While I feel like I have improved the feel, I haven't found a setting I'm completely happy with yet.
I also feel like I have to brake a little sooner than I did in 23 just to avoid the understeer and get on the power at the apex. - IanM2822 years agoSeasoned Ace
@HansenhausAgreed, the steering inputs are miles away from being anything but compliant.
I too am also experimenting with the steering rate, lock and linearity. - contitego2 years agoRising Traveler
i set my steering linearity to 40, steering rate to 160, and steering saturation is 50.
Might be too sensitive for some.

Okay, I feel with some extensive testing today I now have a really good feeling with the handling model. I think my mistake was to use very stiff ARB both front and rear as this seemed initially the way to go looking at the at the TT leaderboards.
However for me using a controller I simply found the input and sensitivity way too much. By having the ARB so stiff gave me a really twitchy front end followed by some instability with the rear and a lot of mid corner understeer.
Playing round with car setups a good starting point on the ARB setup for me was 13 front and 9 rear. This at least for me almost eliminates that horrid sensitivity of the initial turn in. It just feels so much better. Not sure it's faster, but it definitely has improved my enjoyment by a huge amount.
By running with the ARB around 13 front and 9 rear makes it feel much closer to F123 than ever before.
I've also tried some testing with steering lock and steering rate.
I'm happy with the steering rate at around 90 to 100. I have the steering linearity at 0 and steering lock at 320 for now.
For me at least this is a massive improvement. May not suit everyone, but I can definitely work with this.
