Barcelona, in a Williams but third on the Powertrain development ranking so engine has some pull. Difficulty set such that I am qualifying close to my teammate, within a couple of tenths either way.
With DRS in the middle of a DRS train I am LOSING 0.400 seconds to the car in front and the car behind is cruising up beside me.
With no DRS and in Overtake mode I am losing 0.700-0.800 seconds to a car behind with DRS, including my teammate in the same car. It isn’t an aero thing either because I had the same issue the race before at Canada where I ran less than 10 on the rear wing despite it compromising me through the middle of the lap.
Can one of the developers, preferably the one in charge of AI balancing, please watch a few F1 races. In a true F1 race if the car behind is 0.500 seconds behind a car without DRS they are still unlikely to make the pass by the end of the straight and certainly not by cruising past on most circuit.
Maybe it’s a combination of ERS being WAY too powerful and the fact that the AI always have perfect grip (I haven’t had a good start since the handling patch because I can spin out in 4th gear full throttle straight line on the start while the AI drive around me), but the straight line speed of the AI is breaking this game and making it NASCAR in F1 cars. If I wanted a NASCAR game I would buy a NASCAR game.

@tn132Weight and drag reduction upgrades give better top end speed compared to power: If your behind in either or both off those against other cars. You could be top off power train and they will still fly past.
Weight reduction gives best bang for buck. As less weight results in be quicker in slower corners and improves acceleration out off corners plus slight increase in top speed. Drag reduction will greatly improve top end speed as well as acceleration through mid and high ranges.
Always best to prioritise weight and drag reduction. Only power train upgrades that are worth doing will be ERS until you’ve made good progress with aero and weightIve just started a career with Williams and car power wise starts almost on par with other teams. Whereas weight and aero are way way behind top 4 or 5 teams.
Also when upgrading front or rear downforce: look to upgrade the parts that don’t have negative effects on drag. Front and rear downforce upgrades otherwise increase drag and so reduces top speed
- 9 months ago@ScarDuck14 Your teammate blows past you in Grand Prix mode too, regardless of car, so its not an upgrades issue.

Regardless wasn’t saying Ai speed wasn’t OP. Was saying you get more speed from drag and weight reduction. Less drag needs less power to reach top end speed. Less weight also needs less power accelerating which also helps getting all the power down easier and faster.
Heavier and less aero efficient a car increasingly diminishes the effect of add power.
