Full-screen "Communicating ..." banner appears while in middle of online race

Summarize your bug While running an online race, the game was apparently trying to communicate with online services. The usual top-left indicator appeared, which was well out of the way, but then the full-screen banner went up and blocked the view of the track. I ended up hitting a wall due to not being able to see where I was going.
What is your 16 digit Report Code? One was not available ... was in middle of active racing.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I'm not sure it is easily reproducible, as this was the first time I've seen it after weeks of online races. If the game sees a need to put up the "Communicating with online services" banner in the middle of a race and the communication takes longer than a few seconds there seems to be nothing stopping the game from blanking out the screen, similar to how the full-screen banner appears while in game menus.
What happens when the bug occurs? The full screen "Communicating with online services" banner completely covers the screen in the middle of active racing, leaving the player unable to control the car.
What do you expect to see? If there is online services activity going on in the background, the full-screen banner should never appear while the player is racing.
