What platform are you playing on? Your original post says the commodore 64 which I'm guessing was listed in jest. If you are playing through steam I would check the steam input status under controller settings to make sure your controller is enabled through Steam.
I was just playing F1 24 with a PS5 controller yesterday and didn't have any issues.
TheRagebeard yes that was an edit I made in jest. Me being left with a unplayable game clearly wasn't being treated seriously by anyone at EA. So I might as well join in with the joke.
Also you've already gave me that advice in another thread. The 1.17 discussion thread when I first started having the "stuck on splash screen" issue.
