F1 25 Career Mode Issues

As a huge F1 fan, I’ve always loved how previous F1 games made me feel like I was truly battling for a championship. Unfortunately, F1 25 hasn’t captured that same feeling yet due to several frustrating bugs in career mode that make the experience less enjoyable.

There are about two to three major issues that really stand out:

  1. Excessive Tire Degradation
In career mode, tire wear feels way too high compared to previous games. Races that should typically require a single pit stop often turn into two- or even three-stop strategies. What makes this worse is that the AI drivers don’t seem to be affected by this issue, putting the player at a big disadvantage.
  2. Unbalanced AI Pace
Another major problem is how quickly the AI can close gaps. For example, during a race at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, I had a 5.34-second lead heading into sector 2. Within just three to six corners, the AI driver behind me cut that gap to less than a second—right outside DRS range. Considering that sectors 2 and 3 are mostly tight chicanes, this kind of pace gain simply isn’t realistic. On higher difficulty levels, it becomes nearly impossible to maintain a lead, as large gaps can vanish within a single lap.
  3. Sudden AI Speed Boosts
The final issue is the AI’s sudden bursts of speed when being chased or overtaking. After following a driver closely for a couple of laps, they suddenly seem to gain a "magical" speed boost, causing me to lose about 0.5 to 0.9 seconds per sector. This makes it extremely difficult to catch up or stay competitive.

With all these issues combined, racing in career mode just isn’t as fun or immersive as it should be. However, I believe that if these bugs are addressed, F1 25 could become an enjoyable and challenging game that lives up to the standard set by previous titles.

  • I fully agree with all of the above.

The tyre wear mainly on a controller is absolutely dire and does not promote good racing whatsoever.

The AI boosts are present for sure, it's like a rubberbanding affect, whereby you can be a head by a couple of seconds and out of the blue they're back on you having got an enormous power boost.

It's about time Codemasters and EA get there act together with the main fundamentals of the game instead of focusing on utter drivel like reverse tracks and F1 world nonsense.
