Legacy Tracks DLC for future F1 games

I feel like this is a no-brainer. If you’re a newcomer or someone who has played the game and watched the sport, you’d love to try a legacy track. Hockenheim is one of the most popular tracks of all time. Istanbul Park’s hype after 2020 and 2021 is at an all-time high. Sepang is a fan favorite.

Why haven’t we seen a DLC with tracks like these? Licensing issues, sure, but wouldn’t it be worth making it work? I wouldn’t mind paying a bit extra to get two historical tracks, and I think a lot of other people would as well.

I was thinking, if you decided to secure the licensing, which tracks would customers want? Why not do a poll on your official X account, Instagram, and Facebook page? List some possible alternatives and let the people decide! Wouldn’t that bring more fans in?

The addition of reverse tracks is brilliant. They are very enjoyable, but legacy tracks is what the community has been dying for years to get.

  • This has been trundling around for years with people wanting this, but it's not really got anywhere near looking like it'll be included.

There was a high-spot a few years ago when you had the actual calendar and then China, France and Portugal as additionals that you could freely use or swap into career saves but they've dribbled away one a year and now we're lumbered with reverse grids. A complete downgrade which feels like the equivalent of going to prom with the prom queen and then a few years later you have an arranged marriage with your cousin with the hare-lip.

There was a poll a few years ago and the expected candidates did very well. Malaysia, Hockenheim and Turkey were the top 3.  Nurburgring, Magny-Cours and Mugello got a fair few as well.   I'd dare say Imola would get alot of interest if it was to be done again now.

Buenos Aires and Kyalami also got some interest due to people wanting it to be more world-wide and not a USA/Middle-East/Western-Europe centric calendar but it feels like there'd be alot more work involved in getting them prepared.

I think it'll be something they bring in when they're all out of ideas.  When the Braking Point story is dried up (it might be already but i've not played it yet), the revolutions to Career and MyTeam are not enough to justify a new release and there's not a new game engine to incorporate then classic tracks and/or classic cars will be considered as a selling point.   However, put it in too early and it's future sales lost.

  • As much as i would love for classic tracks to come back, it comes down to one thing, licensing. EA would need to get the licence for each track and then its more tracks to have to programme the AI on and update so would take resources away from the game.

With F1 26’s regulation changes this is going to be a major priority so if they were going to implemented its not going to be anytime soon.

Its a harsh reality but i understand why they aren’t included

Totally understand. However, it takes time and to programme the AI around a reversed track as well. If they were willing to take a risk on legacy tracks and even make it paid DLC, they’d go profit no doubt. $20 for 2 legacy tracks is a no brainer for a lot of people including me.
I think you are right about the ”when they run out of ideas” part. I think that is when we have the highest chance to get it. Instead of trying to improve F1 world, which is pointless, and add more reverse tracks they should go for Legacy tracks but that is my opinion.
