I’ll update a bit now that I’ve played a bit more.
While you have more tasks to do, managing is not much different. The R&D tree is identical but now you develop the part separately. There is some drama around who gets a part if only 1 is available but not enough. Contract negotiations are a bit more drawn out and it’s nice drivers come to you for a ride.
But in the end it is all too easy. Reg changes provide no more shock to the pecking order than before, maybe less, and from what I can tell if all the cars max out they would be in the same pecking order as they start in, so the developments sort are meaningless in the grand scheme.
It is all fresh paint and fun but not revolutionary.
The lack of customization is actually as bad as it was just hidden behind you moving decals around. There are 2 useful base liveries and then a bunch of unusable sponsor related junk. You can’t influence your driver’s helmets. The team wear is the same as it always was. The pit crew is still the LA Rams in disguise. The pit boxes don’t move based on results.
For some, no custom driver drags it down. I prefer it this way and have found I have bonded with my drivers. It would be nice to customize one as an icon for me to use. It would be nice if my team had a nationality. It would be nice if I hired department heads to get bonuses instead of buying facilities.
It would be great to have to develop a new car if there is a reg change instead of adapting the old one. Even deciding what % of our efforts go to the new vs current car with the prize money mattering to our survival.
Over all MyTeam is better than last year, but it is evolutionary.
