@WollcottWhy you "league racers" don't actually adapt by, who knows, using more than 5 laps? What's even the point of racing online with just 5 laps is beyond me. Instead of treating the game as an arcade why don't you try to treat it as an actual racing simulation just for once? You will find no other racing sim around where the online player base (especially in leagues and top splits, where long races are usually the norm instead) does 5 laps races, as it makes absolutely no sense.
I don't want to defend Wollcott in any way, but your post regarding the existence of "5 laps races" is subjective and just ignorant. I am a league racer but not all of my friends are and 5 lap races can be a ton of fun. There is also a joy in making a competition with e.g. 5 tracks á 5 laps because it shows who ist the most versatile and adaptive driver. It's a difference if you can practice for a single 50% or 100% race and be good or to be good on random tracks. But this is of course my personal opinion too.
But it's a fact that Codemasters / EA is OFFERING and SELLING 5 Lap Races, so a customer should be allowed to exprect that this mode works as it is supposed to be. And it's legitimate that if you play a game for 1 month and the races start with a normal temperature that you are frustrated when it's different on the next day.
There are far bigger problems than the "5 laps/temperature"-issue, but it surely adds to the frustration regarding online (ranked) lobbies.
Edit: @Amioram I wanted to add that you are of course right that this mode is probably mostly used by "casual" or "arcade" players. But because of this it makes even less sense to make the game harder for these people. Starting with 70°C is just harder for everyone.
