If I buy F1 2022 on Steam, can I play with my friend who bought it on Origin ?

Origin and Steam will not be able to play online together. When crossplay is introduced later in development, then all platforms can play together in supported crossplay modes (Social Play and Two-Player Career modes)

It comes out with F1 23.
As far as custom lobbies go,
Both of you install LogMeInHimachi and join the same network.
Crete a LAN lobby in F1 22 and join via IP
Copy the hosts IPV4 from Himachi and paste it into F122
Now you can play via LAN until they add cross platform
The whole release has been a joke. The fact they just didn't care about issues it would cause. Even now despite no real skin off their nose they still aren't refunding or providing codes for the users choice of "Platform" for those that just want to get on and enjoy playing the game.
Yes they are a big company and ultimately they can do what they want and treat their customers badly..the question is why would you.
The lesson I'm taking here is not that I won't buy from EA, that would be silly. However I will certainly stop purchasing titles from Codemasters anywhere close to release and will just wait it out until I know that I will get a game that is for the most part playable and without bugs, probably at a discounted price too.
You have to keep in mind that parts of the studio responsible for the crossplay stuff are located in Ukraine.

After reading 17 Pages of discussion about "Cross-Play" "Cross-Storefront" or whatever...
I come clearly to my question of understanding...
Am i just too stu*, or? I mean, i get the point with Cross-play on different Consoles, like PS5 and XBX and that theres an "issue" because of the War Putin made. This d* f*. But as i read earlier in some posts here, and wich i agree with, PC is PC. So why is there even in first place a "difference"? Basically 10 different German, where i'm from, Newspages and Papers are stating that there will be NO POSSIBILLITY FOR STEAM AND ORIGIN USERS TO PLAY TOGETHER. Or as in German: "Es wird keine Möglichkeit geben, für Steam und Origin-Spieler zusammen zu spielen." Surely, they might be more into making money with fakenews but idk. I bought the Game on Origin... more precisly from a Vendor for 46,99€. I mean its cheaper... someone mentioned earlier, that I have to look up myself for information about playing with friends on Steam or not. Uhhhhh, no? Im on PC, so normally it works fine with ALL GAMES i have. And YES FIFA 22 also works, because whenever i run FIFA 22 up, it starts Origin, but i bought FIFA 22 via Steam... so? Where is the argument behind that? Why even in first place, make it as a developer and/or publisher hard for themselves... i dont understand.
What i read now. And the point i am right now is: Yes/No Players can play together within Steam and Origin, by the Time, the Update for Crossplay gets released. So im not really smarter at that point.
In my opinion you cannot rely on "Crossplay" when its not even "Crossplay". Thats just Stu*.
I only hope that it will work and all PC Players can come together and play like it should be. As same as PS and XB guys should play together.

All people with responsbilitly on this case have failed miserably.. Developer, Publisher and first of all that ONE GUY whose in charge over all that. Should be ashamed of himself.
