I need some help with understanding and analysing telemetry.
I’ve recently got and set-up a telemetry app to mainly help me look at tyre surface and carcass temps so I can set pressures to avoid overheating.
I am now wondering what else I should look out for in the various data points to help increase performance.
I know I could look at any data point and focus on extremes to further analyse, I also appreciate this is a pretty nebulous subject, and setup can have impacts on multiple data points - but are there any that are more “clear-cut” that directly point to specific setup points that I could start my “telemetry journey” with?
I appreciate any and all pointers and assistance

CC: @mariohomoh, I know this is something you’ve talked about before - any thoughts?
@ScarDuck14 Got 2 words for ya.....THE NOTEBOOK! Getting back to the OP this is how I refine setups....how can you tell if a change is faster or slower unless you keep track?

Ah. I see. But have you tried this setup in TT? I doubt such high downforce setup can out pace low wings setup with long long straights at Jeddah. 🤔
@BadMayh3m Because I only play myteam. I select my base setup for each GP. Do a few laps on FP1. Make changes to set up I think I need. Do practice program at end FP1 if my car feels good and I’m lapping within 3 tenths of my main rivals on performance rankings. I go to FP2 do last 2 practice programs. Fine tune settings then on to qualifying. I take no notice of my lap times or anyone else’s. Just the gap between mine and theirs
@Blackbird90 You don’t feel the need to shoehorn that into every post like the Git Guders do. telling people who are asking for help. Instead off using their skill set to actually give any real help they say “ I do 110ai you’ve just got to get better and sweat and spend hours upon hours like I do to git gud’.
@Blackbird90 Because of the tire issues I consider TT times to be unfair imo. If I was running EVEN cars then yes my wings would have to be lower but ride height would still be 9/8. Wings would still have higher downforce than normal setups.
Example...just set a new PB at Australia but I had to set my wings to 24/39 and lowered my time by a touch over half a second.
The 9/8 RH is low downforce allowing me to run higher downforce on wings and there appears to be an advantage to doing it this way. How easily I'm setting these PBs is just 1 of the surprises now add the fact I'm setting pb in an Alpha Tauri which is the 5th highest car and your talking close to a second improvement if I switch back to RedBull. Very few things you can do that you will see these types of improvements imo.
Just post a screenshot of your interface so that I can see what sort of data you can visualize - and their formats. Or just tell me the app you're using, but that will have me google searching for images of its interface anyway 🙃
Do you have a routine or protocol already for creating setups? I mean your routine: what you set up first, what you look for on your first stint, etc. Method is just as important as data here. No use adjusting differentials before nailing your wings.
It may take me a few hours to get back to your properly, busy day in the office today. But you've got me hooked already 💕
Apologies for the delay in responding - have been sidelined with Coronavirus 😩
Got some screen shots for you regarding SRT.
The app offers data on the overall session and individual laps. The data points available are below, and for either the session or individual lap you can select from the parameters below.
The app is broken down into the following sections;
Charts - available for both session and lap; where you can get data point values for the session or lap. If analysing a single lap, sometimes it groups things together, like surface temps for all 4 tyres. If comparing with another lap, it’ll split them back out again. You can get a data point at any point in the lap, drill down etc.
Stats - available for both session and lap; good for looking at overall things - avg throttle for example
Track - available for lap data only; can zoom into certain parts to analyse single lap/ compare with other laps high level data points like throttle, steering, racing lines etc
Table - available for lap data only; full list of data points to analyse single lap/ compare with other lap for a specific point in the lap

I only joke I don’t mock. As I struggle more than most with racing games compared to most sim racers. Because I’m used to my backside telling me what’s going on with a car. Most cars you get feedback through steering wheel. But most road cars are very vague. Compared to sim wheel. I’m not a racing driver: But the most similar thing irl and sim for me is look as far as you can up road/track.,
So unless you have a state of the art sim that shakes your bum. But even then it won’t truly translate the g-forces so I imagine a telemetry tool can help better understand what’s going on with your car.
glad your better dude. Covid is t so bad now. Had it. Just before Christmas. Worst thing was losing sense of taste and smell over Christmas so couldn’t taste my sister’s awesome dinner she made😡
Whereas during lockdown I lost my mum to it 😡😔
