- @LABoog4 I find the foirmation changes to result in dramatically different results - often ridiculously so.
I have struggled in some matches only to find a tweak suddenly makes the opposition really bad and I rattle in goals. Even just sometimes getting my front two to change places can make a big difference.
It's never quite so dramatic in real life, but there you go. - LABoog42 years agoNew Ace@CO88LER5 I did not expect Chelsea to have so many chances with one simple tactical change. It made for a nice storyline and it did help me figure out the correct style going forward.

Reality starting to bite in this sequence. Brighton are a good side, but need to find that killer instinct, it seems.
Tough for Edwards with the injury. It happens sometimes and it's quite frustrating when it does. - JustinCase01102 years agoSeasoned Ace
Good to see Marcus Edwards return from injury with a bang. A 6-2 comeback win in the derby, doesn't get much better, does it? It still puzzles me how Palace and Brighton are a derby in the first place though...
The Arsenal defeat was heavy, perhaps the gaffer should have approached the game differently by tweaking the formation? Typical managers, always sticking to plan A 😉

Slowly, we need to start managing expectations here. Forget Champions League for now and focus on stabilizing for 5th or 6th position, which is going to be tough enough as is.

Not entirely sure that Palace see it as a derby, nor see Brighton as 'a rival' in that sense; they are much more likely to see one or more of the London clubs as 'rivals'. They are at opposite ends of a road - the M23 - so I guess it can be seen as some kind of connection. - LABoog42 years agoNew Ace
@JustinCase0110 I actually thought of trying to play 3 at the back again against Arsenal lol. But then I decided not to make that mistake again like at Chelsea and went with my usual 4-3-3-. The Arsenal attack was just too much early on, as expected. They are a much better side and it showed.
@Danimal5981 I agree. Top 4 is a dream but not my expectation. The board is asking for a midtable finish. I want to go one beyond that and finish in a Europa League position. With Chelsea, Man City, and Newcastle struggling, top 6 is very possible.
@CO88LER5 I do not see Brighton or Palace as a "rival" but I have seen fans say it. Doing a Google search, it showed up as a derby and I cannot find any other team listed as a Brighton "Rival."

Three in and Three out for the winter window
Brighton made early work in the winter window, completing all their deals by Dec 26th. Unless a surprise offer or a golden opportunity comes up, Brighton will be done with transfers for the season.
"We made a few deals more than expected. A few players asked to leave due to playing time and after talking with the board, team captain, and coaching staff, we felt a few signings were needed to secure Europe this season." Pochettino said before the Tottenham match. "Another winger, a defender that can play left and right back plus an attacking midfielder. All in one window! That is exactly what we needed. The scouting team did a fantastic job and the club is putting money into securing our goals. I am very excited for the rest of the season!"
