can i play with a friend co-op/remotely even though he soesn't own the game

I recently bought fc24  on Ea and wanted to see if i could play with him even though he doesnt own a copy of the game. I know it has worked on ps4 before but i cant  find any answers. if possible please tell me so me and my friend could possibly play togheter
