Re: High press in EA FC 24 makes this game unfair to play

Man, I literally had to create an EA account for this to express my frustration on the gameplay as well and a lot of it revolves around exactly what you 're saying. This is a MASSIVE issue. I can't even compete anymore in online seasons because I am only afforded the ability to switch the ball around the back and then hope I can pass the ball to my wingers to take it down the field in the hopes of getting a cross and 45 degree pass in. The constant pressing and inability to play the ball through the middle is extremely unrealistic and frustrating. Having played this game for over 10 years the gameplay has never been this horrid. I am considering buying PES and other soccer video games because EA FC has messed up the gameplay so badly. I went from competing in online seasons at the divisions 2 - 4 level to now getting relegated in division 8. HOW!? Are you kidding me. I literally have to refer to people who promote EA FC 24 and make a living off of playing it competitively to see if they're having the same issue. OH, and guess what they are having the same issue. It's not a skill issue, it is the video games functionality that needs to be refactored. If they don't prioritize this on their roadmap because their only looking at metrics focused on increasing revenue which are in other game modes of EA FC like ultimate team where it can be very transactional I'm going to be so pissed off. It's already bad enough that loyal followers of what is now EA FC have to deal with playing to adhere to the current mechanics of gameplay that CLEARLY need to be fixed.

I understand that this is just a video game, but I'd like to enjoying the $70 USD video game I buy...

I apologize for being so negative as I am not here to be a nuissance in the community, but the mechanics of gameplay need to be refactored. This is a business critical area that is being compromised in EA FC 24. If this doesn't get seen and at least discussed amongst the internal teams developing this video game then what is the point of this forum.

@MARCUSFENIX121 Spot on my friend. I’ve played FIFA since the very first one (yes I’m THAT old) & this is quite honestly the worse edition yet (yes I know it’s not technically a FIFA game but just go along with it!) The GK are terrible - how many professional GK do you see where the ball literally goes right through them like they’re a sieve or GK who palm the ball into the air or straight onto the feet of your opponent? Doing any form of ‘custom tactics’ doesn’t seem to work for me as I honestly couldn’t tell you/see the difference between using 1 or 100 width/depth & players, despite being ‘told’ what to do, seem to do their own thing. How can my ST & RW be told to stay forward yet are always back on defence so when I do have the chance of a counter attack, I have hardly any players in an attacking position?! Sadly all EA care about is this PTW mentality & if you dare to highlight the raft of ongoing issues with their game, they’ll just pass the buck back to you & tell you it’s your issue. They tried blaming my broadband - no other game has issues with my home internet - rather than admit they’re at fault. How can they release regular ‘patch updates’ that do nothing to improve the basic gameplay dynamics? It’s ok though, just do the new objective & play 3 games using some random s*** badge or kit to get 50XP & a 75+ rated player. That will keep the community happy…

@MARCUSFENIX121 Over the last month I’ve posted extensively about the poor gameplay. I, too, was exclusively a seasons player up until this year. Won Div 1 about 7 times etc. This game in both modes is absolutely miserable and really feels like a pay to win situation in FUT. I have all kinds of weird errors with passing and tackling that if I had the patience and time i could create a 30 minute video. I may have to accept that this is truly my last game I buy. I find myself absolutely miserable 85% of the time and justify playing with the hope they’ll fix it. This franchise is just not for me anymore and I get they might be focusing on fixing the dozens of bugs, but the gameplay needs serious tuning.

@scumbagshawty Summed it pretty well mate. Initially I though the same with FIFA 23 last year but they seemed to patch the passing issue fairly quickly (it was just all the other bugs that killed it) The most amount of games I’ve played consecutively is about 10 or so & even then that was during last years edition. I genuinely don’t see what the attraction/pull is for people, especially the guys/girls who stream live on Twitch for hours on end, playing this game. One half you shoot from left to right then the next half you shoot from right to left. Rinse & Repeat. I’d lose the will to live doing that for hours on end knowing just how horrendously bad the gameplay is. So many times I’m seeing shots literally go through my GK or players as if they’re not really there & don’t even get me started on the insane amount of ricochets/rebounds that somehow always seem to land at the feet or head of my opponent. EA need to fix this mess & soon!

@Shivanmikaeel93 I feel your passion & pain my friend. Sadly this franchise has been dying a slow & somewhat painful death the last 4/5 years. For me, FIFA 18 was the last decent one the rest are just an absolute catastrophe. How EA continue to get away with advertising this as ‘the most realistic football game ever’ is beyond me 😂

Most great teams IRL plays a high press.  It’s actually REALISTIC.  Only the sore losers complains too much because their reaction speed is slow and dead.

“Constant pressure” is not the same as a HIGH backline to press with defenders.   Constant pressure drains insane stamina so people only uses that near the end of games if they feel too desperate.   But a HIGH backline to press high?   That’s realistic.   And it’s a huge gamble.  Casuals just don’t have any skill to counter simple tactics

ONE TOUCH passing and thinking several steps ahead is the SKILL GAP against high press.   It’s too easy to counter high press if you’re good enough.   Their backline is always vulnerable.

  • I think you literally answer yourself because i rarely think it should be possible to apply constant pressure end of game in real soccer, because your players are already tired. I know teams that are loosing try hard to press and win at the end of the game but the constant pressure is just insane. First think you will notice is they is no player control and it very unrealistic the level of stamina the players suddenly have. The problem you thinking only about winning yet we talking about realistic most of us still win but that makes the game boring because players end up running in every direction and dont keep their natural positions. Instead of winning smart you have to use just using technics just to keep your win. Stop boasting about winning this post is about simulation not about you.

@ChristianMx01 if the servers--> gameplay was quick and good then highpress wouldnt be ann issue at all because it would be very easy to play arround and score easy goals, but when the servers and gameplay are heavy and trashy with all the animations and emphasis you cant trust your players to even get first time passes off and THEN this becomes a major issue and pressing gets overpowered..
Its extremly frustrating to play against when your not in controll of your players movements and handling of the ball
  • @jonas2173 Yes thats true and to add salt to the wounds in Africa we have very few servers atleast I stay close to one here in Cape Town but rest of our people here are far from servers.
  • yeah but only good team and not during 90 mn.. I have JUve in Legendary mode, won serie A 2 times in 3 season but 3 season the same happend : Some good team like AC milan or Inter start the game with tired player (after champions league game or after coppa italia games) while my team is at 100 % but altough they start the game with some player with 50% of their condition, they press during 90 mn without being tired and when they have the ball back, they run as if they did not have to run during the game ..

But if I start a game with my best player at 50 or 60 %, I get destroyed after 30-45mn because I cannot press with tired player during 90 mn..

If they press without being tired, there is something wrong and making one touch passing become useless..  I don't like people saying other are sore looser because I am clerly not the best player at fifa or at fc 24 but I play legendary mode and can win most of the game, I also loose sometimes but when a fresh Mbappe or fresh Chiesa cannot run faster than a tired Calabria, there is something wrong...

  • I have no problem with my opponent pressing for 90 minutes. That way, there's always room to counter-attack. Of course, if every player is marked, it can get a bit dicey, but a short view at the radar usually shows you where you can play the ball. If necessary, go back to the goalkeeper and then build the game up again.

  • Not sure what’s worse - the community or the game.

The game allows people to spam techniques and score automatic goals - whether it’s constant pressure, guaranteed corner kick goals or rats scoring kickoff goals….all of it is ridiculous and shouldn’t be possible.
Yet, it is. ‘Instead of having normal people that want to plays for fun and maybe get a win….you play rats that prey on this crap - making an already bad game much worse.

@Melg0reFUT You can play against a high press and beat players who use it for sure... BUT it's still a massive problem in the game in my opinion.

The AI defending is way too overpowered and AI defenders can do things that a user-controlled player can't, especially at this time of year when everyone has 94+ rated defenders. They get away with fouls, they'll make impossible lunging interceptions even if their intercept stats are low, they'll automatically win the ball back every time you make a tackle manually etc...

Like the comment above mine says, you should really just be able to play football and have some fun on this game but half of the time you can't because you have to try and counteract ratty broken tactics and people who abuse bugs relentlessly

I'm also fed up with this AI defense. AI always performs accurate positioning and intercepts. also while cutting the passing lane automatically press and take the ball. And it knows all the lanes that a through pass can take. It's far from realistic football.

In recent FIFA series, there has been an increasing reliance on AI defense. As a result, many users are increasingly leaving defense to AI. This dependency is particularly evident for high ability players in FUT. It is no exaggeration to say that FC24 is the worst in history.

I think the reason for this is largely related to hypermotion. Developers may think hypermotion is a great feature, but it does a lot of harm. In particular, the AI's behavior during defense needs to be reviewed.

The previous generation version, which doesn't have Hyper motion, allows for fairer and more realistic matches. the ball doesn't go one way or the other to the most capable player. Because it relies less on AI, defense is difficult and dribbling feels a bit odd. Still, You can play without stress
