Can't connect to ultimate team or companion app

As the title says, when I try to log into Ultiamte team it says cannot contact EA servers. The rest of the game works even Clubs lets me log in (although that whole game mode never worked). 
The companion app says "There was a problem connecting to the EA Account servers. Please check your internet connection and try again."
Weirdly I disconnected my wifi and only used phone Data and it let me log into the phone companion app however  I would like to log into the game to play FutChamps.....
