I encountered this bug while playing Manager Career Mode but found a workaround. I manually save my career game before starting each match to avoid this issue. By saving the game before every match, I have successfully prevented the bug from occurring.
I can confirm that this works. Though I make sure that I save before every game to ensure no loss of progress.
