Career Mode still scripted

My defenders can defend really well for a large period of the match, then the attackers shoot really slowly at the near post and my GK falls over in the wrong direction letting it in. 

Then once the opposition have scored, my defenders then part like the red sea and no longer defend and the attackers then score with every shot…

I can’t believe how bad this is still.
