DUALSHOCK ISSUE WITH DS4 FOR WINDOWS

Since today I can´t enter the game, because the anticheat detects DS4 for windows as cheat. I used this app since the beginning in EA FC 24 without any problem but seems that  any update started this...

    If you're having trouble with the software you're using, it is recommended that you disable it before you start the game. Also, try connecting your controller directly to the USB port and running the game without using any extra software.

Hi EA_Pulsar, 

I don't want to sound disrespectful in any way, and I am trying hard to reply in a calm rational manner. But you appear to be either totally ignorant of PC Gaming and EA products, or you are trying to treat me and others like me as total fools. I'm really hoping it's not the latter, so I will try and explain in a manner that is difficult for you to misinterpret.

Next a little background on me. I'm an IT professional with over 30 years professional experience of using and administering PCs and Microsoft products. It's usually me assisting remote users through their issues. In addition, I have paid in good faith for the EA games that are now rendered unplayable by EA's recent action. So now that's laid to rest, please listen carefully to the issue that I and others are facing. 

We PC users that wish to play EA games with a PS4 controller have for years used a small ineffectual third party program called DS4-Windows. You can find the download and information here.. DS4Windows - Tool to Use PS4/PS5 Controller on Windows PC (ds4-windows.com) 

This small program allows us PC users to use a PS4 Dualshock controller with your EA Games. It does not offer any enhancement or unfair advantage to our gameplay, but it is required so that there is no playing lag (delay) between using the DS4 controls and the EA game responding. Also, this small program is required so that the PS4 Dualshock controller is fully functional. i.e. all the buttons are recognised and function. 

The native Windows Bluetooth connectivity that is supplied by Windows does connect the DS4 controller to Windows. However, it connects the DS4 controller as a generic controller that does not have full functionality. In addition, even when connected there is a huge delay between pressing buttons (i.e. using the controller) and those inputs being "seen" by the newer EA games. 

Now for the issue...
For some obscure reason, EA have very recently blacklisted DS4-Windows with their EA AntiCheat software. 

The reason for this recent blacklisting has not been explained in any forum that I am aware of, and I personally do not know of any way that DS4-Windows could possibly be used to cheat in an EA Game. 

So with all this in mind, please pass this communication to someone in authority at EA to either remove the blacklisting of DS4-Windows as soon as possible, OR explain why DS4-Windows has suddenly after all these years been seen as a cheat mechanism. 

 I look forward to your prompt response.

Hi All,
I decided to escalate this issue and see if I can get a response. 
As you probably know these forum pages are a poor response to issues, so I decided to raise a case with EA as the support guys usually respond. 
OK - Not the easiest path, but here's my method in case anyone else wants to "play a little game"....

Start here... EA Help: Official Support | United Kingdom 
Now select Fifa24 as a starting point. 

Next Click the Link to ask for a refund - I usually find most systems react quickest to this route. 

Ok Now you should see a link to Start a Chat with us
Click and be polite and patient. 
it took 3 minutes for the Chat to be answered in my case. 

Then outline your concern regarding DS4-Windows being blacklisted. 

You will have now raised a case that you can monitor and reply to via email. 
What's more you will be speaking with an EA representative in their Tech Support. 

I figure if enough of us raise a Case, then they may notice us. 
I'll update here with my answer from EA.

    If I read correctly, they want us all to raise this, so maybe this route might work. 

    As I say... Fingers crossed. 
    Hopefully you guys will all join in and raise a case too.

      I have a better solution, lets all push their sales an ea play subs down, and they will quickly review what is happening, is the only way that a mercenary company listen to their customers. Employing people like EA_Pulsar or EA_Antonio is the proof that they are not interested in what we have to say, so lets speak in monetary language.

      Hi All,

      No response yet from my latest try with Support, so as EA Tech Support have asked I have raised a new thread guys here...
      PC with PS4 DS4 controller - Major Issue - Answer HQ (ea.com) 

      2 reasons...

      A. This thread has been marked as Solved - It isn't of course but the "Solved" status may be preventing further replies from EA. 
      B. A new thread that is open allows anyone who would like to "up vote" as EA Support have requested. They may notice this more. We can live in hope. 

      Again a long shot, but I think it's our last resort apart from investing in a new XBox controller that MAY work with a PC. 
      Or of course abandoning the games we paid good money for.

    Hi All,

    I finally have a solution to our DS4-Windows issue. 

    You may not like it, but it is a definite solution. 

    After a month of banging on the EA desk to try and get someone at EA to even acknowledge us regarding then debacle of DS4-Windows and playing EA games on a Windows PC, I have finally given up. 
    That said, rather than not use the games that I have already purchased from EA, I decided to try something.
    Let's face it EA are not going to refund me or any of us for older games, even if anyone has managed to get a refund on the newer titles, and I hate wasting money. 
    So...after reading a few articles like this one (  https://www.quora.com/Which-is-better-for-PC-gaming-an-Xbox-controller-or-a-PS4-controller  ) I purchased an Xbox Controller. The rationale being that it is designed by Microsoft and therefore should be fully compatible with Windows. Also as there is no interface software required, there is zero chance of EA blocking the Xbox controller from use. 

    I was correct in my assumption.
    I uninstalled DS4-Windows and the Steam install I had tried as a solution, and I confirm that the Xbox controller works seamlessly on FIFA23 etc. 

    Don't get me wrong, I do still prefer my DS4 controller but it is now rendered useless for playing EA games on a PC thanks to EA's stupid decision to blacklist DS4-Windows.

    So my advice is as follows...
    Unless you still need your DS4 controller for use with a PlayStation Console, sell it and use the money to help buy an Xbox controller. 
    It has become absolutely obvious that EA will no longer support the DS4 as a valid controller for playing EA games on a PC. 
    We all know there is absolutely zero reason for this but EA refuse point blank to comment on why, so abandon it. 

    On a positive note, the Xbox controller works absolutely flawlessly either connected via USB cable, or via Bluetooth. 
    Again my thoughts were that it seemed stupid to throw away the games I have already invested in, but I am now totally committed to never ever buy another EA game for PC again.
    I refuse to add money to their coffers. 

    I realise that EA Support ( @EA_Pulsar etc ) will likely read this and not give a damn, but hopefully this might help someone. 

    Also please note if you do read this @EA_Pulsar this issue is still not solved!
    Please take your head out of the sand and show some respect to the PC/Windows EA users that have paid good money to EA and in fact indirectly pay your wages.

        For DS4 new gen, you can directly connect to windows 10/11 via BT and able to play fc 25 without any third party app.

        For DS4 old gen, quite annoying, you need to connect it via BT to windows twice. so first connect via BT (press ps button), after connected (blinking gone and lights off but status connected), turn it of by pressing and hold ps button+L1+L2+R1+R2 for about 10 sec (or disconnected/paired in wireless controller status), then connect it again by pressing ps button, now ds4 old gen will be connected normally and light will turned on. you can play fc 25 directly without third party app. the most annoying part is, after done playing, I need to turn off my BT first (and turn it on again). or your windows page will go up and down insanely.. lol

        I have both of them, next time i buy DS4, i will make sure that it is new gen.

        and for reducing input lag, play it on low (display configuration) on all (res, grass cloth, etc). i tried it on 4k medium res (awesome graphics with HDR) , input lag was horrible like hell. but on low res, its perfectly fine.

      Hello, I can confirm this. Since the anti-cheat update the DS4Windows program no longer works for me either. However, I can confirm this for Battlefield 1 only. I have already tested it without DS4Windows. It doesn't work and I followed all possible instructions. I have been playing Battlefield 1 with the Playstation 4 controller for 6 years and with the Playstation 5 DualSense controller since last year. If we should play the game with a Playstation controller in the future without the DS4Windows program, then I beg, also on behalf of the community, the developers to implement Playstation 4 + DualSense controller support in Battlefield 1 in addition to a Xbox controller support. As a next update. That would be really great and kind. ^^
