Ea fc not giving me option to log in on switch

I have just bought ea fc 24 for my son to play on the nintendo switch. I have an EA account. At no point in the game is it letting me try to connect to my EA account so he can play online. When we try to play online -  It just gives an option - press A to play offline. Can anyone help? What do we need to do.
