The PS5 and PS4 versions of the game would not be able to play together, however both the Ultimate Edition and Standard Edition of the game come with dual entitlement, as seen here.
If you're playing on PS5, you'll just need to use this to download the PS4 version of the game to play with friends on PS4.
Few questions:
1. Do you have to pre-order to get dual entitlement?
2. If playing on a PS4, are you able to play against/with new generation consoles xbox/ps or are you restricted to ps4/xbox1?

For your first question, I've not seen anything to suggest that's the case, and it's worth noting pre-ordering was not a requirement for dual entitlement previously either.
As far as crossplay, this is divided by each generation which is why a PS5 player would need to install and play on the PS4 version of the game. A PS4 would not be able to play with/against the Gen 5 version of the game.

Does that mean I can cross-play with my friends who play on Xbox one, if I download and play the ps4 version of FC24 on my ps5?

I've bought the disc for PS4. I want to buy ps5, so is the disc compatible with PS5(New gen edition), or do i have to buy another copy. I want to buy the disc compatible version of PS5

I have the same problem. I bought FC25 PS5 disc (standard edition), I installed it.
When I choose 'Select version', The PS4 version has a lock icon, and it prompts me to buy it in the PS Store....
