Team sheets irrelevant when simming in calendar (Manager mode)

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go to manager mode, take note of the starting XI in the team sheet. Go to the calendar and sim to the day after the next game. Return to the team sheet and observe the players' stamina to determine who played in the simulated game.
What happens when the bug occurs? Some of the starting XI will have full stamina, meaning that they aren't playing. Some of the substitutes will have low stamina, meaning they are playing instead of the players you chose for starting XI. Your team sheets should determine who is starting your game. Since this does not occur, not even with custom team sheets, the concept of managing your team's play minutes and stamina is broken and the players start to complain in sms and drop in morale.
What should be happening instead? The starting XI players in my active team sheet should start in the next simulated game, not random players.
Please fix or explain why my team sheets do not determine who's playing in my simulated games. This aspect of player management is not only very important but it's an extremely basic expectation of the game.
Further, I have tried entering games and simming, as a tedious workaround to the calendar simming problem, and all of those games end with a score of 0:0. On the game report upon completion of the sim, I can see that there are no shots taken by either side. Again, such a basic function of this video game, which has worked in previous years.
I am dying to know why these two sim functions are broken and still unresolved. My only choice if I want to control how much each player gets to play and keep everyone happy is to play the full game or enter the game as though I will play it and sim after the ball is in play.
