Gaming Routers

Has anyone had success with a gaming router to improve the online experience of Eafc or past fifa’s. In more specific terms has anyone had success in improving the gameplay away from sluggish slow players to more responsive ones or a more consistent basis. I know a lot of it is to do with how someone connects to the EA servers, but as a long time sufferer, it would be interesting to hear of any success stories of someone improving their internet stability to get a better gameplay experience

  • As soon as you find out let me know…. Gameplay is so bad I haven’t pre ordered for the first time in years😁

  • @CPFC007 It really just depends first I would test how bad your delay is with the input overlay on. Count the seconds between the two controllers on screen. If they are in sync you have little to no delay so no need for a gaming router. If you can count like 6 seconds in between the two controllers on screen then a gaming routing might help you.

First if you have delay contact your isp and have them fix it. Since ea has said there is no server issue and very few have delay your isp needs to fix it.

If they won’t fix it a gaming router can help by prioritizing your game over other people streaming which can cause issues.

You can also geo filter. Your isp doesn’t always connect to the closest server which can cause problems. With that filter you can limit server distance.

Is it worth the price it all depends what you find. Every time I test mine I have no delay so it wouldn’t be worth it for me.

Ea has done pitch notes explaining how some isp like in Mexico City route you to Dallas despite a server in Mexico City. This could help someone who’s isp is doing that. Then again since isps don’t make sense this could actually make it worse.

Thanks. I have no delay as such, just the gameplay where the players are slow, don’t move as quickly as they should etc. If i press a button the command is triggered straight away. The issue is the gameplay whereby the opposition players move more quickly even if stats suggest they are slower.

i believe it is caused by how my isp routes to EA although when i have scored 99/100 on the connection test, the gameplay feels at its worst. Again buttons register as they should its just players don’t move at their correct speed. My opponents player will literally be able to sprint through the middle of my defence and i can’t keep up whereas my strikers can’t get onto a simple through ball. Interestingly if i use a vpn to a different server such as frankfurt (im in London) my players move more like they should, but then i get delayed button presses and speed up lag. Im hoping a gaming router could potentially give me stable gameplay without my pkayers being disadvantaged in the way they move.

  • @CPFC007 If you don’t have any delay then a gaming router really won’t help you. You might have delay in your setup. The last person fixed it by changing his tv into game mode.

Ive tried all the tv settings etc. It is definitely something to do with my connection to EA. Optimising my qos to improve my connection potentially might improve gameplay as there must be a reason why i get poorer gameplay that my opponents. It could be how my isp routes, or it coild be lag compensation by EA whereby the better more stable internet is punished. Im hoping it’s the first one, which is why i was asking if there were any examples of people improving their gameplay through a gaming router rather than me just buying one and finding out it makes no difference

  • @CPFC007 If it was lag compensation you would have delay. Since you are showing no delay it isn’t connection related.

Had you said you see a difference in the controllers then you would have delay and it would be connection related. Then the question would be is it on eas end or yours but you don’t have connection issues.

@RadioShaqs It is certainly on Ea’s end. `As i said earlier i can change my gameplay with a vpn. When the game thinks im in a different location and it puts me on a different server the gameplay is different. My setup hasn’t changed apart from the place that EA thinks im at.
  • @CPFC007 Well yeah the gameplay will be worse if you are on a poor connection from connecting to a server far away if you are forcing that.

If you are getting that speed up lag the game is basically unplayable.

But that’s expected and not a connection or sever issue.

While a gaming router will improve your connection if you have no delay then it really won’t matter.
