I just noticed how controversial it is of FC 25 to include the signing of minors under the age of 16. Within the EU, or to neighbouring countries it is still allowed. But an intercontinental move of a 13, or 14-year old is rare and highly controversial.
I just scooped up a 13-year old wonderkid from Brazil and I thought to highlight it with a post in my career story. But then I second guessed it and looked into it: only if parent[s] migrated to another country unrelated to football; only within EU from the age of 16; below that age, no further than 50 km from the border of the country of origin.
So, let's just say the parents of this 13 year old are expats and their boy wants to play football š

Haha, yes that is something of a potential plot hole there, haha... Great find...

After my initial struggles to begin a save properly and enjoy the gameplay, even strongly considering just going back to continue playing FC24, now I must admit that the game is growing on me.
I still have a few issues, especially with the youth team, where I find many youth players to have an awful appearance in the game. Often looking like little girls, will they ever grow into adult players in the first team? Hard to imagine really. And it also bothers me that you can't manage the youth team better in terms of formation, roles etc. And squad numbers!
But apart from that, I'm really beginning to enjoy it, which may not surprise you with the current pace of my story writeups. This is also a result of my attempt to make weekly updates though.

I'm loving it since day one. Actually, the somewhat more limiting options in tactics are a challenge to work around with, the limitations in scouting is fun as well - you wanna be successful in this game, you gotta work for it. I can already feel, I won't win this season's league and with my self-imposed limitations even next year will be challenging. The goal is a stand-out result in the Champions League, much like 2018-19 and my current estemate is that it will take 3-4 seasons for that.

There are some things that I do not like or have not grown used to yet but when it comes to gameplay, I am really liking this. This is the most realistic and hardest FIFA/FC game that I can remember. I still have to use the second controller option to make sure the CPU are playing their best players but when the game is happening, each match seems different and challenging.
I do enjoy playing longer games. I felt like when I played 6-8 min halfs, I could never score.

What are we currently playing?
I play Legendary with sliders on simulation / 10 mins per half. Simulation settings, I drag down the AI's urge to dribble down to 5.
Gives me the most realistic feel overall, though on the pitch it still feels a bit too fast; on and off the pitch away teams still seem to be at an advantage.

I play 15 minute halves on legendary with custom sliders. The AI sliders, I turned shooting and crowing way up close to 80. One touch passing and dribbling are turned down to 30.
i am still working on the speed of the game also. Turning down pass speed helps but it is still fast. Turning down sprint and acceleration slows the game down but then players feel heavy when moving so I am trying to find the balance.

I play Legendary too. Five or six minute halves, I think, don't recall exactly. But 10 or 15 minutes, wow, I've never played Career Mode with games this long. With my current scorelines, games often ending 2-2 or 3-3, I would expect scorelines to be even more excessive, if I increased / doubled the match length.
I haven't played around with sliders too much. I think it's been pretty balanced so far, but I'll certainly check up on your experiences with them. Could perhaps improve my playing experience as well.

I tend to play on World Class, lose too much on Legendary š but I also find it a good base level for messing with sliders. I know on world class I'm gonna win lose and draw games and it's easier to use this level to make certain parts harder/easier as and when I feel need to to keep up the challenge and enjoyment. Whilst I have no issue with losing I don't wanna be losing 10 in a row or anything š.
I'm also guilty of restarting games not because I'm losing, but because match doesn't feel right so ability to oaky with sliders during a match is great, but have felt that don't make as much difference this year during the game.
Examples of this like in previous years say I was up against Barcelona and they were playing around the back at 0-0 I'd likely restart the game but up their acceleration/speed and passing etc just to try and make it feel like I was playing Barca without making it too more difficult
- 5 months ago@thurlow885 I always restart a match if it's a cup tie and it goes to penalties. I hate penalty shootouts.
I sometimes also restart a match if a key player gets what looks like a really bad injuty - but not always.... - 5 months ago
I haven't got the game, yet. Is it okay, then?

Hi mate, good to see you back here!
Plenty of good things to report. Gameplay fun and challenging. And there's a competition for your youth team, so one can implement youth team football in ones story, adding more depth to the story of a young player being promoted to the first team and handed his debut. All in all a good experience so far. One needs to set up the save right though. If you set it up with a "closed first transfer window", transfers are removed completely from the game it seems. A bug that will hopefully soon be fixed. But if you start with an open window, then everything seems to work.
However, they've made quite a big deal of trying to make youth players look / appear young. Most agree that they've taken it a step too far though, so a lot of the youngsters are just 5'2 with faces making them look like little girls. Sometimes you come across a talent that looks decent, but the rest of the talents I find? No, can't see myself including them to the first team with their childish and girlish appearances. And I don't expect them to age either, so I can't imagine myself playing 6-8 seasons in and seeing these dolls represent a 24-25 year old. No way. I really hope they revert this to the way it was or at least allow us to edit these things ourselves.

Just to clarify I believe this is a lucky dip bug, many reporting the issue, I however and others haven't had that issue so I don't entirely know what is causing it.
But in general it's each to their own on opinions, if you look at rest of the forum you'll see about 600 threads telling us it's the worst game ever like every other year. I have a few niggly things that big me, but overall I'm enjoying it especially career mode
- thurlow8855 months agoSeasoned Ace
On that note regarding transfers another issue I had been hearing about which turns out I'm also having issues not receiving notifications of bids only a message when they have pulled out because you've basically ignored them so transfer hub needs to be checked regularly especially if you have players listed.

I don't understand how these things so easily creep in. It's crazy, really. - 5 months ago@JustinCase0110 Thanks. I'll have the game by the end of the month, I think. Might do a story then.

Maybe he should go to United. Ten Hag has 'a process' that doesn't seem to be working. Maybe Frank's does...Heh, good shout. I wouldn't wish it for him though. It does seem that United as a club seem to have a pretty poor record of turning good managers into poor ones. Perhaps the players are also responsible at some point. (longer discussion perhaps, let's just leave it there...š)

Another minor little thing that is bugging me. Once you come to December and you get the notification of players contracts coming to an end. If you don't wish to renew a contract or at least not make an immediate decision it permanently remains in your Tasks on Central tab. Again it's not a game breaking thing, but I do find it annoying š
- thurlow8855 months agoSeasoned Ace
Just for laughs one of the City players in my career has told me he wants to leave and is fed up with his lack of opportunities blah blah blah even tho he's playing loads. It's not everyday you can send an actual screen shot of this to the actual player moaning about it š

Well, entering January, some transfer offers didn't come up on the main page, so I had to check the transfer hub almost daily in order not to miss any if them. I did receive a few angry e-mails that I hadn't responded to an approach made for one of my players. I just hadn't seen the offer before then... This especially happened on Deadline Day, I think, needing to check the transfer hub every hour.
- thurlow8855 months agoSeasoned Ace
I don't know if this is new or not and I keep forgetting to take screen shots when comes up.
I know in previous games during match intro or match we've had mentions of best home form or least goals scored etc, but I've had actual league tables come up for Home matches only showing top 5 as well as a list of the lowest scorers in another. Not sure if new but it's not something I've seen in previous games
- Danimal59815 months agoSeasoned Ace
To my knowledge such things were mentioned during the game, not during the intro...

has anyone reported the transfer notifications bug?

I have now.

I noticed a bug, where one team in Europa League does not plays games at all (Jagiellonia) and is replaced by another that now play double (the real team are also in this tournament), sometimes even on the same day š
