Save Pro Clubs
Hopefully to EA and the Clubs development team,
I've bought every FIFA/FC since FIFA 12 - but this year was the first time I didn't buy the game at all. A major reason for that is the direction Pro Clubs is heading.
Ultimate Team has its own place as a timeless grind, but in my opinion, Pro Clubs is by far the most fun mode - especially with a group of friends. That's why I feel strongly that the move to a Rivals-style system and monthly tournaments, instead of the classic league format, has taken the heart out of the mode.
From my experience, and from what I've seen across the community, most Clubs players love the grassroots, Sunday league-style feel. It's about a group of misfits playing for fun, climbing the divisions, and creating memories. EA's recent shift toward a more "elite" experience - huge stadiums, a heavier grind, and the loss of the simple league table - disconnects from what made the mode so special.
The new Rivals-style format just doesn't work here. In Ultimate Team, the higher you go, the better the rewards to improve your team - so the grind makes sense. In Clubs, it doesn't. Earning customisation feels too slow and locked away. Whether you're in Division 1 or Division 4, matches feel repetitive and inconsequential. The old league system made every game matter. Goals counted. Relegation and promotion added tension, excitement, and storytelling - something the current structure completely misses.
That's the real strength of Clubs: the story. Building your created player from a nobody to a star. Relying on that one consistent AI teammate - or dealing with the hilarious liability. Rallying from mid-table in Division 3 to a run of form that takes you to Division 1. These are the moments that players talk about and remember.
On top of this, removing classic hairstyles, putting cosmetics like masks and tattoos behind paywalls, and tying customization to Volta currency all restrict the mode. Clubs works best when it's an open, accessible experience - when every player can feel ownership over their character and story.
It feels like the team overthought what the community wanted. Going back to what made Pro Clubs great - the classic Div 10-1 league system, promotion/relegation battles, and open customisation - would be the best step forward. That, along with occasional cups, would make FC26 a real consideration for me again. As it stands, I and many of my friends won't be buying it.
I hope this feedback is taken seriously. Clubs for me has always had the most potential for fun in the entire game - please don't let that potential go to waste in FC26.
