Dear EA Sports FC Team
I hope this message finds you well.
Today, my son came to me in tears after learning of the tragic passing of David Jota, at just 28 years old. He had discovered the news at school and was visibly shaken. As a father, I did what many parents try to do in such moments — I held him, listened, and made space for the grief.
But what struck me most was how personal this loss felt to him. Not because he had met David, but because — through your game — he had been him. In the many hours he spent playing, David Jota wasn’t just a player on a roster. He was a companion, a hero, a source of joy. My son controlled his avatar, celebrated his goals, and carried a small echo of his brilliance into countless matches.
Which leads me to a suggestion.
Would EA consider offering a quiet, respectful way to honour players who have passed away — especially young, active ones like David Jota? Perhaps a digital moment of remembrance within the game: a commemorative banner, a black armband, or even a dedicated corner of the home screen to honour the lives and stories of those no longer with us.
It doesn’t have to be grand. Just present. A gesture that acknowledges that in today’s world, connection takes many forms — and sometimes, it’s through the controller in a child’s hands.
Thank you for your time, your craft, and the joy you bring to millions — including my son. And thank you for considering this small invitation to remember.
Warm regards,

Hello L0nd0nDud3,
I can tell you, the news hit all of us at EA pretty hard. It's quite the tragedy for the sport and our game.
We've shared a tribute statement from our side as well.We are heartbroken by the news of Diogo Jota’s passing. Diogo was not only an exceptional footballer, but also a true friend and talented member of the FC family whose abilities were renowned amongst the community. Our thoughts are with his family, his teammates, and all who knew him. Rest in peace, Diogo.
I appreciate your story and suggestion. You're not alone in wanting something to remember Diogo by, and I will pass it on to the game team, to see what can be done.
