Great ideas, as long as USA is not hosting the World Cup. I also think there should be players with multiple nationalities, and just like in real life, you can recruit them to choose your nation over another.
Also, in serious international competition, the players, coaches and fans should cheer and celebrate with more enthusiasm. Even add some cutscenes for nervy moments late in matches.
