FC 25 Career Mode

I send a buttload of players on loan via my academy. I’m playing as a Swedish team so the years are a little weird compared to the Top 5 leagues. They end at the end of December.

Coming January 1st, some of my loaned players are randomly free agents, and I have to constantly resign them. Yes, I’ve made sure their contracts haven’t expired, and no, I didn’t loan with option to buy. I’ve looked up the rules for how many players you can have on loan, it said 5, I ended the year with 5 players on loan, and yet 2 of them still became free agents. This is really frustrating and I can’t find the reason why.

Is there something I am missing? Or is it a bug?
