FC 25 starts on my friends account but not mine, stuck on "preparing game"

I have FC 25 bought from steam since launch and it has worked with no issues, yesterday and today my friend played on my computer on his account, we have gone between our accounts with no problem (both on steam)

today though when i tried to launch the game on my account it gets stuck on "preparing game" and "launching game" and nothing happens

ive tried literally every trick and tutorial and nothing works, yet my friend can launch the game with no problem on my computer.
