Bug with buying players

When I try to buy a player I get an error message pop up as seen in the photo attached, all other game aspects work perfectly. This occurred when I brought a large amount of fodder and TOTW's in prep...

what is the offence ? 

 

Am I not allowed to buy as many players as I wish after buying the game ?
